As a child of the ’90s, the Power Rangers have always held a special place in my heart. Growing up with these colorful heroes fighting for justice and battling against evil was not only entertaining but also shaped my imagination and instilled values of teamwork, courage, and perseverance.
31 years ago today, I can hardly believe it, the very first episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers graced our screens. Little did we know that this TV show would grow into an empire, stretching far beyond our living rooms into realms of toys, movies, video games, collectibles, and comics! Even now, as we await the next chapter in the franchise’s story, there’s so much to celebrate about Power Rangers. We’ve got all the latest news and updates right here for you to enjoy!
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Where It All Started
In August 1993, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered, introducing viewers to the original five rangers: Jason (Red), Trini (Yellow), Billy (Blue), Zack (Black), and Kimberly (Pink). This initial team would later be joined by Tommy (Green Ranger), who became a major franchise symbol. The team underwent changes over time, both in terms of cast members and Rangers/Zords, and ended its run in May 1994.
Power Rangers originated from the Japanese series Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, and subsequent editions of the show past Mighty Morphin were based on other Sentai series. The latest installment in the franchise, Cosmic Fury (2023), marked the end of a 30-year run for the Dino Fury team.
Movies and TV
Currently, Netflix hosts multiple Power Rangers series, including the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, two seasons of Power Rangers Dino Fury, and one season of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. Additionally, Netflix features the 2023 reunion special, Power Rangers: Once & Always, where David Yost, Walter Emanuel Jones, Steve Cardenas, and Catherine Sutherland reprise their roles as Rangers. Unfortunately, to watch other film projects like the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie from 1995, you’ll need to visit Disney+, while the 2017 Power Rangers reboot can be found on Prime Video.

As an ardent Power Rangers fan, I’m thrilled about the variety of gaming experiences we have to look forward to! One title that’s really got me pumped is Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, set to drop later this year. This game promises to blend the classic brawling style of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the Power Rangers universe, and it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Additionally, you might discover Power Rangers Legacy Wars, a free-to-play combat game available on iOS and Android platforms. You can track down collections like Go Go Power Rangers, Power Rangers, and Power Rangers: The Return too, with the latter seeing Amy Jo Johnson and Matt Hotson reviving the original team of Rangers for a brand new journey filled with unexpected twists and turns.
Meanwhile, you anticipate Prime, you might also enjoy Power Rangers Infinity – a standalone story that presents a fresh, quirky group of Rangers. Additionally, there’s Ranger Academy, which chronicles an academy where aspiring Rangers are trained, all within the same universe as our beloved Rangers.
