As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of reality singing competitions over the years, I must say that The Voice UK’s return this weekend is like a homecoming for me. With five coaches ready to unearth the next big artist, the excitement levels are at an all-time high!
This coming weekend, “The Voice UK” will be back on our television sets, and this season we have five coaches eagerly waiting to discover the next major talent. Notably, three fresh musical talents have been added to the judging panel.
Once again, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am will return to their gleaming red chairs, and they’ll be accompanied by Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones from McFly, as well as the remarkable LeAnn Rimes.
In continuation of the previous season, teams can audition once more, as well as individual performers. These individuals will make their appearances in a sequence of “blind” auditions, aiming for any of the judges to spin their chairs, expressing interest in them.
Regarding the upcoming season, host Emma Willis mentioned that viewers are in for an exciting ride filled with amazing skill sets, fresh coaches, and more vigor than ever. However, when you throw in Tom and Danny to the equation, the energy escalates to new heights!
“As always it is a really enjoyable and heartwarming watch. Great for the whole family!”
As we approach the start of auditions on August 31, 2024, here’s a rundown of the esteemed coaches for The Voice UK 2024.
The Voice UK coaches
will.i.am
Age: 49

Since The Voice UK debuted in 2012, will.i.am has consistently served as a judge on the show. In addition to his role in The Voice UK, he has also judged The Voice Australia and The Voice Kids.
Known for being a prominent figure, this individual gained popularity as the key band member of Black Eyed Peas. Throughout their professional journey, they have produced multiple successful singles and albums.
Will.i.am, prior to the start of the season, remarked that “the skill on display in this series is astonishing – it’s extraordinary.” He went on to say that there are many talented artists lined up for us to see this year.
The coach aims to illuminate their artists’ aspirations and provide them with a roadmap for success.
Sir Tom Jones
Age: 84

Since its debut in 2012, Sir Tom Jones has been a coach on The Voice UK. He resumed his role as coach for the series in 2013, 2014, and 2015. However, when the show moved to the BBC, Boy George took over from him as a coach.
He later returned in 2017 when the show moved to ITV.
Once again, Jones keeps his ears open for an unexpected event or experience that breaks the routine, something beyond the ordinary.
“Sometimes people want to sound like someone else, but I want someone individual and natural.”
LeAnn Rimes
Age: 42
Instagram: @leannrimes
LeAnn Rimes is now part of The Voice UK’s coaching panel, but she’s no stranger to the judging seat, having previously served in that role for the Australian version of the talent show.
As a passionate movie buff, let me tell you that I admire Rimes greatly – she’s an accomplished artist known for her skills in both songwriting and singing. Initially, she gained recognition within the country music scene, but over time, she expanded her talents to embrace pop as well.
Known for selling more than 48 million records globally, her tunes like “Can’t Fight the Moonlight”, “How Do I Live”, and “You Light Up My Life” are widely familiar to many.
Regarding being part of the UK coaching team, LeAnn expressed: “This place seems like a familiar home now, as everyone here is incredibly warm and inviting.”
Tom Fletcher
Age: 39
Instagram: @tomfletcher
Tom Fletcher teams up with his McFly bandmate, Danny Jones, in a unique dual-coaching role on the British television show, The Voice – marking the first time two artists have shared a single coaching chair together.
Known primarily for his membership in the band McFly, Fletcher boasts a remarkable career with ten UK chart-topping singles and twenty-one top ten hits. His talent extends beyond McFly as he has also penned songs for popular groups such as One Direction and The Vamps.
Fletcher is also an author, having penned a number of children’s books.
“It was truly special to witness that event, marking the first use of the double chair in the UK. For over two decades, Danny and I have been side by side on stage. So, getting the chance to sit beside my long-time collaborator and enjoy ourselves was a fantastic opportunity.”
Danny Jones
Age: 38

Danny Jones, who is recognized as both a singer-songwriter and a member of McFly, has also made an impact on “The Voice,” serving as a coach for its children’s version from 2017 through 2023.
Apart from his McFly band projects, Jones has also put out several solo works. His first solo single, “Is This Still Love,” was released in 2018 and reached the 44th spot on the UK Singles Downloads Chart.
“I’ve loved pitching with my mate,” Danny said about his love of being a coach on The Voice.
“Going solo when presenting ideas can be challenging, but having a partner makes it fantastic! It’s great to have someone to exchange thoughts with; it’s truly an exciting experience.”
The Voice UK airs Saturday 31st August at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
