Agatha All Along: Kathryn Hahn Reveals When She Learned About the WandaVision Spinoff

As a long-time Marvel fanatic who’s been following the captivating tales of the MCU since its inception, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Disney+ series, “Agatha All Along.” The anticipation has been building ever since Kathryn Hahn’s enchanting portrayal of Agatha Harkness graced our screens in “WandaVision” three years ago.

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as we’re just weeks away from the debut of “Agatha All Along” on Disney+! Ever since Kathryn Hahn’s captivating portrayal of Agatha Harkness in “WandaVision” three years ago, this spinoff has been one of the most anticipated projects for us Marvel enthusiasts. Now, with the countdown to her return ticking down, Hahn herself shares a fascinating tidbit about when she discovered that Agatha would be gracing our screens once more. It turns out she found out about the show while working on “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”.

Jac Schaeffer, the writer behind WandaVision and showrunner of Agatha All Along, expressed to Hahn, “Gosh, I’d love to work with you again.” As we concluded WandaVision, Hahn shared with Rolling Stone that we both hinted at having ‘unfinished business.’ The exact meaning wasn’t clear, whether it was for this world or another, but our thoughts seemed to merge. I admired her perspective and her humor. This character simply felt natural for me.

She went on to say, “During the summer, while filming Glass Onion, the movie adaptation of Knives Out, I received a call from Louis D’Esposito, co-president of Marvel Studios. He asked, ‘Would you like your own Marvel series?’ – a question seldom posed. My heart raced; I struggled to comprehend his words. I knew the implication, but I found ways to downplay it in my mind until the first day of filming. A sign on the window of my trailer read, ‘welcome to your first day on your very own Marvel series.’ The sight made me tear up. It was incredibly thrilling, especially for a character I adore and wish to delve into every detail.”

Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige Was Very Supportive of Agatha All Along

It has been revealed that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige supported the idea of an Agatha-focused series. In a conversation with Empire Magazine, Schaefer shared that when she was brainstorming ideas for another show, she consistently returned to Agatha. Eventually, Feige suggested a standalone series centered around Hahn’s character as the best approach.

Schaefer expressed his desire to continue exploring the world of “WandaVision”, stating that there seemed to be countless tales yet untold. In every scenario he imagined, it felt like Agatha might suddenly appear. At some stage, Kevin suggested, “Perhaps we could focus on an Agatha series instead?”

What is Agatha All Along About?

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “In the latest series, ‘Agatha All Along’, I, Agatha Harkness, find myself at my lowest ebb, powerless following some shady teen’s help in breaking free from a twisted enchantment. My curiosity is sparked when he pleads with me to embark on the fabled Witches’ Road, a gauntlet of magical trials that, if completed, grants a witch what they lack most. So, this teen and I rally a motley crew of witches, and we dive headfirst into the heart of The Road…”

As a gamer, I’m super excited about the star-studded cast of “Agatha All Along”. Besides Kathryn Hahn, it features Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, with Debra Jo Rupp, and not one but two amazing talents – Patti LuPone and Aubrey Plaza. The series is also executive produced by the legendary Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, and Jac Schaeffer. And to top it off, it’s directed by none other than Jac Schaeffer, Rachel Goldberg, and Gandja Montiero!

Agatha All Along premieres September 19th on Disney+.
