Ricochet Reveals Why He Chose AEW Over Re-Signing with WWE

As a long-time gamer of the squared circle, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as I witness Ricochet‘s electrifying debut in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). With his gravity-defying moves and electric energy, he’s been a fan favorite for years, and now, he’s found a new home where he can truly shine.

Fans of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) were pleasantly surprised when Ricochet made his spectacular debut with the company at All In, and his first appearance on Dynamite didn’t fall short either, creating anticipation for a highly-awaited match against Will Osprey. AEW has many exciting matches in store for Ricochet, as one of them. In an interview with The Takedown on SI by Steven Muelhausen, Ricochet shared his reasons for not renewing his contract with WWE and opting to join AEW instead. In essence, Ricochet shared that the primary factor behind his long-standing commitment is the enjoyment he has experienced throughout his 21-year career, particularly when he was part of a wild and adventurous group, traveling the globe. He emphasized that his career has been filled with fun, regardless of where he found himself, and this joyous spirit will persist.

In a moment of joy, Ricochet shared that his favorite times were spent with a group of friends, exploring different parts of the world together, competing in matches, and making the kind of art he truly enjoys. He expressed that it felt like the fans of Ricochet who have been longing for a chance to shine were missing out on something special. However, for him, it’s all about having fun again and creating that art once more.

A Difficult Decision

As for deciding to leave WWE, while he has fond memories and some great friends there, there were too many positives to ignore regarding joining AEW. “It was definitely a big decision, but honestly, yes and no. Obviously, yes it was hard because it’s a place I’ve been for the last six years. I got some really good connections, some friends, and some good memories there. So it was definitely hard. But at the same time, no, it wasn’t because I am a person who has always changed. I’ve always done stuff, so that’s something that I was looking forward to.”

“Ricochet recently observed AEW’s activities. He noticed their team members and the enjoyable things they were doing. It looked so exciting that he wanted to join in. Now that he can be a part of it, he hopes to contribute and help shape its future. As difficult as the decision was, he felt it was the right one. It promises to be fantastic being a part of this evolution into the next generation.”
