As a die-hard fan of the Alien franchise, I must say that Alien: Romulus has truly outdone itself. The third act was a masterful blend of horror, suspense, and shock that left me on the edge of my seat. The birth and rapid growth of the human-Xenomorph hybrid was both terrifying and fascinating, thanks in large part to the practical effects brought to life by former basketball player Robert Bobroczkyi.
The film “Romulus”, part of an established sci-fi franchise, has been playing in theaters for several weeks now, leaving fans amazed with its innovative approach. A particularly startling scene comes towards the end of the movie, where the heavily pregnant character Kay (Isabela Merced) injects herself with a mysterious substance that alters her DNA, resulting in the birth of a human-Xenomorph hybrid. The newborn quickly grows into a colossal creature, kills Kay and attacks Rain (Cailee Spaeny), before being expelled from the ship to perish in a neighboring planet’s rings. What took many “Romulus” viewers by surprise was that the “Offspring” was brought to life by former basketball player Robert Bobroczkyi, and we now have exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of this process. On Friday, director Fede Alvarez shared a video on Twitter showing Bobroczkyi and Spaeny during filming, demonstrating the realistic design of the Offspring.
“The incredibly talented Robert Bobroczkyi getting ready to chase after Cailee Spaeny in #alienromulus @LegacyEffects #bts,” Alvarez’s post reads.

Will There Be an Alien: Romulus Sequel?
Although an official sequel for “Alien: Romulus” hasn’t been confirmed yet, some enthusiastic fans are hopeful about a continuation of Rain and Andy’s tale due to the movie’s conclusion. In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, director Alvarez hinted at his openness towards this idea and has even begun brainstorming potential directions for the sequel’s narrative.
Absolutely, I can do that quite easily. In our creative process, we don’t usually plan for sequels or consider the larger franchise aspects. Instead, movies for us are primarily about the story. Over the last ten years, I’ve been here, this has been my perspective. So once a story is complete, our first thought isn’t necessarily about ending it there, but rather wondering what might lie ahead if they reach your Yvaga. We ponder whether it will be a wondrous place or a dreadful one. Given our inclination, we tend to imagine the latter as a place they dream of despite its potential horrors. This leads us naturally to contemplate where the story could go and what might happen next. And within a few minutes, we realize that this could potentially be the setup for a sequel.
Alien: Romulus is now playing exclusively in theaters.
