Steamboat Willie Horror Movie Gets First Teaser Trailer

As a lifelong Disney enthusiast and horror aficionado, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming film, “Screamboat”! The teaser trailer alone has sent chills down my spine and left me eagerly anticipating this twisted take on a beloved classic.

This year, “Steamboat Willie,” the 1928 animated short that debuted Mickey Mouse globally, became part of the public domain, sparking a flurry of creative ideas, especially in the horror genre. Recently, one of these projects has unveiled its teaser trailer. On Friday, a glimpse into the upcoming project titled “Screamboat” was shared, giving us a sneak peek at a chilling reinterpretation of the original story.

The movie titled “Screamboat” is set to hit cinemas in 2025 and hails from the same production houses that brought us “Terrifier 2” and “The Mean One”. This film is helmed by director Steven LaMorte, with David Howard Thornton, known for his role in “Terrifier”, portraying a sinister take on Steamboat Willie. The plot revolves around a mischievous mouse terrorizing a group of New Yorkers during a late-night ferry journey, causing chaos and bloodshed amidst what was supposed to be a peaceful commute. The question remains: can the diverse crew aboard the ship find a way to put an end to this murderous creature, who seems to have acquired a taste for tourists?

“For generations, Steamboat Willie has been a source of happiness, but there’s a hidden side that could induce raw, uncivilized fear,” stated LaMorte when the film was initially announced in January. “This is a project I’ve longed for, and I can hardly wait to share this dark, twisted interpretation of this cherished character with the world.”

In addition, this movie features Allison Pittel (known for her role in “Stream”), Amy Schumacher (from “The Mean One”), Jesse Posey (renowned for his work on “Teen Wolf”), Jesse Kove (popular as the cast of “Cobra Kai”), Rumi C Jean-Louis (recognized in “Hightown”), Jarlath Conroy (noted for being in “Day of the Dead”), and Charles Edwin Powell (best known for his role in “The Exorcist 3”).

LaMorte expressed his excitement about being involved in the production of “Screamboat,”, especially since it features a talented ensemble of horror veterans and comedy greats. In an official statement, he noted that David Howard Thornton is brilliantly breathing new life into our unique, chilling interpretation of Steamboat Willie. He can’t wait for the audience to join us on this thrilling journey aboard “Screamboat” and experience both laughter and terror together!

Thornton expressed his immense enthusiasm about being part of this extraordinary cast, and he can’t wait to give Steamboat Willie a chilling makeover. He described the upcoming movie as a rollercoaster ride of terror and laughter, one that audiences will surely not want to pass up.

As a thrilled fan, I can’t help but share the excitement that “Screamboat” is on its way! Although we don’t have an official release date just yet, it’s anticipated to make its grand debut in January 2025, courtesy of Iconic Events Releasing. Stay tuned for more updates!
