Absolute Power Reveals How Amanda Waller Stole the DC Heroes' Powers

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate worlds of DC comics and strategy games, I must say that Absolute Power Origins #2 has truly hit the sweet spot for me. The storytelling is gripping, the characters are well-developed, and the plot twists keep me on the edge of my seat.

In a straightforward and engaging manner: Amanda Waller, known for her skillful handling of DC’s super-powered heroes, has an uncanny knack for neutralizing their powers swiftly. Although it’s the Amazos who are responsible for this power removal, the means by which they were granted permission to do so initially have been unclear. Absolute Power Origins #2 sheds light on this mystery, taking us back to Waller’s initial Task Force X team and revealing the moment she devised her masterful plan. A heads up for those who haven’t read Absolute Power Origins #2 yet: spoilers are forthcoming!

Meet Clarence

In the early stages of this predicament, I crossed paths with an individual commonly known as Cyclotron, previously Clarence. We shared a bond, having both experienced life behind bars and navigating through survival post-release. I took the opportunity to pitch him an intriguing proposal about joining a team I was constructing.

As a devoted admirer, I’d rephrase it this way: His unique skills made him unremovable, even at the cost of occasional instability. This factor, coupled with his desire for something more substantial than petty theft, drove him to contemplate bank robbery. Consequently, he was apprehended and Waller approached him with a proposition – aiding her in her crusade against the masks. Initially hesitant, he eventually agreed and became the de facto leader of her inaugural Task Force X squad. Their maiden mission was to retrieve the God Engine from a dictator, and things were running smoothly for our team. However, circumstances took an unexpected turn.

The Mission Has Changed

The broadcast is interrupted, giving Waller and her colleagues a brief moment to re-establish the connection. Upon resuming, they discover Cyclotron was already in communication with the rest of the team, suggesting they seize the God Engine for their own purposes and control their future. This sudden assertiveness caught Waller off guard, prompting her to request Lobo to betray his team and eliminate Cyclotron instead.

Lobo carries out his task, charging twice as much, and inflicts damage on Clarence, triggering the detonation of Cyclotron, causing harm to most of Waller’s team. Despite this, Waller’s team manages to retrieve Clarence’s remains, and they manage to reuse the Cyclotronic Neural Network. It is at this point that it is disclosed that the device can neutralize meta-humans by absorbing and aligning with their bioelectric impulses. This means that it nullifies their powers; when activated, it turns off abilities, marking the beginning of Waller’s strategies as depicted in Absolute Power Origins #2. Here is a brief summary for Absolute Power Origins #2.

“The Suicide Squad Ascends! Following immense grief, Amanda Waller seems to have lost more than just her loved ones – her humanity as well. Now, with a trail of success in Washington politics behind her, Amanda Waller is embarking on the next stage of her career: TASK FORCE X.
