Jax Taylor Shares He’s Been Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder and PTSD

As a longtime observer of reality television and human relationships, I must say that the tale of Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor is one that I have followed with a mix of fascination and concern. Having witnessed their rollercoaster journey on Vanderpump Rules, it’s clear that they have had their fair share of ups and downs.

Jax Taylor shares with followers about his recent recovery journey, having spent a month at a specialized healthcare center.

In late July, a 45-year-old individual shared details about a recent health condition they had just learned about, following their admission to a healthcare facility for treatment.

About a month ago, I admitted myself to a residential treatment center, filled with apprehension about the unknown and curious about what I might discover about myself. As it turns out, I’ve been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and PTSD after many years of sensing something was amiss but not fully understanding the cause. The “Valley” star shared this information in a September 2 Instagram post.

Speaking in my own voice, I must admit that the recent news has been overwhelming and an emotional rollercoaster for me. Yet, amidst all this turmoil, I’ve found solace at home with my son. I can’t deny feeling apprehensive about the future, but I’m making a conscious effort to improve myself day by day. It’s no secret that maintaining mental health is an ongoing struggle – it’s not about letting go of control, but learning to master it.

Amidst his ongoing divorce with Brittany Cartwright, a former cast member of “Vanderpump Rules”, Jax has drawn motivation from their son, Cruz (age 3). In late July, he posted a picture of himself affectionately kissing Cruz on the cheek and captioned it, “Improving for both you and me, buddy. I love you.”

Earlier, a representative for the Bravo celebrity confirmed to TopMob News that they were seeking treatment at a mental health care center.

In a statement issued on July 30th, Jax’s representative stated that he has been open about his mental health challenges, particularly in the recent months through his podcast. This is an emotionally delicate period for him and his family. They kindly request privacy and understanding until he feels comfortable discussing this issue further.

By the end of August, Brittany chose to file for a divorce, having been married for five years. Later on, she shared her reasons with her supporters.

On their August 30th podcast, When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany, Brittany clarified that contrary to popular online opinions suggesting it was a publicity move for the show or to boost ratings, her choice to file was not impulsive or hasty. Instead, it was a well-thought-out decision.

Previously, Jax and Brittany’s romantic involvement was featured on the series “Vanderpump Rules”. However, they decided to depart from the show in the year 2020.

On the podcast, Brittany shared, “I’ve spent years building up the courage and strength to make the right decision for myself – that was leaving a harmful relationship. Now I understand my value.” Despite the challenges, she said, “I’m stronger than ever because of it, and my drive is my son, Cruisey, who deserves a joyful and thriving mother.”

Prior to their wedding, back in 2017, Jax Taylor was unfaithful to Brittany Cartwright when he engaged in a relationship with the ex-SUR server, Faith Stowers.

Jax confessed that he had been in a similar situation before, when he was discovered cheating. Previously, he had spent several months denying the accusations, but it ultimately proved to be fruitless.

However, despite breaking up after Britanny was devastated, they reconciled several months later and married in the year 2020.

Looking ahead to February 2024, I find myself standing at a crossroads, as Brittany and her partner, Jax, with whom I share our beautiful 2-year-old son Cruz, have made the difficult decision to part ways after four years of marriage. The journey we’ve embarked on together has been filled with love, laughter, and the incredible joy that comes from parenthood. Yet, as life often unfolds, change is inevitable, and we must face it head-on. This separation marks a new chapter in our lives, one that will require patience, understanding, and above all, the continued love and wellbeing of our precious son Cruz.

The speaker, hailing from Kentucky, expressed that marriages in general can be extremely challenging, and they’ve had a particularly tough year last year on their “When Reality Hits” podcast. They mentioned that Jax and themselves are taking some time apart, and as a means of prioritizing their mental health, the speaker has chosen to move into a new residence.

Brittany mentioned, “I’m dealing with things one day at a time.” She admitted she isn’t sure about what lies ahead, but for now, her primary concern is giving her best as a mother to little Cruz.

A month down the line, the strains in the couple’s relationship grew more evident following the unveiling of the trailer for Bravo’s latest show, titled “The Valley“.

Brittany confessed that she doesn’t sense any romantic attraction from him and they haven’t been intimate, which makes their marriage challenging at times, as Jax later mentioned.

Plus, costar Janet Caperna teased in the clip, “There’s a rumor about Jax cheating online.”

However, Jax slammed allegations of infidelity days after the trailer release.

“At present, we’re encountering some minor communication difficulties,” he shared with TopMob News at the premiere of The Valley on March 14th. “Let me assure you, there are no instances of cheating or infidelity happening. It’s strictly a matter of communication. I realize it might come as a surprise, but sometimes people simply don’t see eye to eye, and that’s just the way life goes.”

He mentioned, “We cross paths daily,” and the only variation is that we don’t share a bedroom at night. That’s about it.

Contrary to gossip, Brittany clarified that Jax’s infidelity was not the reason for their split, and she disclosed the accurate sequence of events leading to their separation instead.

35-year-old shared with TopMob News on March 18 that we had a severe argument, leading me to gather my belongings. Since January 24, I have been residing in an Airbnb.

She mentioned that she was taking this action for her peace of mind, and she strongly stands by her choice to take some time off.

Regardless of their personal issues, the separated pair found common ground: Both felt they were making the right decisions for their 2-year-old child.

“Jax made it clear to TopMob that there’s no dispute between them – he’s clearly number one. What matters most is ensuring this individual grows up with the love of two dedicated parents who will do anything for him, guaranteeing him a wonderful life, regardless if they remain together or not.”

Regarding the escalating conflicts, Brittany concurred, “I simply wish not to see such a lifestyle for our son. I don’t want him to perceive it as normal.”

Brittany admitted in March that “there’s always hope,” but she just needs Jax to put in the work.

Brittany told TopMob, “I doubt anyone will ever love Jax as deeply as I have, given our shared history. Through thick and thin, he’s been by my side, and I believe that if he makes the changes I’ve requested, we might reconcile someday. However, at this moment, I need time to focus on myself and understand what’s best for me. I’m incredibly strong and proud of the choices I’ve made for my well-being, as my mental health is paramount.”

One person who wasn’t so shocked by Jax and Brittany’s separation? Their former SUR boss Lisa Vanderpump.

The former Real Housewife mentioned that many had assumed their marriage wouldn’t last when it began, however, she admittedly didn’t enjoy jumping to conclusions about its longevity.

She went on to say that, as far as she could tell, the cause might have been related to Jax’s misconduct. Generally, a person’s actions in the future are often influenced by their past actions.

According to their longtime friend Scheana Shay, she believes that the separation is in the best interest of the parties involved. She feels that the individual deserves more and a partner who will show her the respect she truly deserves.

And the couple’s The Valley costar Kristen Doute agreed with Scheana.

Kristen acknowledged that she was proud of Brittany for establishing boundaries and standing up for herself. However, she remained optimistic about their situation resolving. Yet, she emphasized, the responsibility to make it work does not lie with Brittany; it is up to Jax.

In the June 4 season finale of “The Valley,” Brittany challenged Jax over the supposedly hurtful remarks he made towards her in private settings.

According to Kristen Doute, he admitted, “Aware that I treat you poorly. Acknowledged I can be harsh. Admitted to calling you fat and telling you that you’re unproductive, as well as predicting that we won’t have any friends left if we split up.”

Brittany shared with TopMob News in June that she had mentioned earlier that they could explore the possibility of seeking feedback from others if they chose to. She acknowledges it might sound unusual or even a bit eccentric to some, but that was their preferred approach.

In the month of July, Jax revealed that he was planning to get hospital-based care for his mental health concerns, following years of pleas from Brittany urging him to attend therapy sessions.

The VPR alum mainly credited son Cruz as the reason he saught professional help.

In his Instagram post dated July 31st, Jax expressed that he was striving to improve and wrote, “Trying to be my best for you, buddy,” accompanied by a sweet picture of him giving the little one a kiss on the cheek. “I adore you.”

7 months following the split, Brittany officially ended her relationship with Jax by filing for divorce in August 2024. In the court documents we acquired from TopMob, she stated “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. She asked to be given primary legal and physical custody of their son Cruz (3 years old), while also requesting that Jax be allowed visitation rights.
