Once again, we return with more intense episodes, The Tower’s third season unfolds, carrying forward the dramatic narrative initially crafted by author Kate London in her eponymous book series.

In a fresh adaptation penned by Patrick Harbinson, the upcoming season finds Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins (played by Gemma Whelan) grappling with another chilling investigation – the brutal stabbing of a teenage boy this time around.

During her investigation, she encounters Lizzie (Tahirah Sharif) once more and finds herself in growing opposition with DI Kieran Shaw (Emmett J Scanlan), who leads Operation Perseus – a covert police unit established to take down South London’s drug lord, Shakiel Oliver (Daniel Adegboyega).

Kieran teams up with an unexpected ally, Detective Constable Steve Bradshaw, portrayed by Jimmy Akingbola. Despite past disagreements between them, it appears that they are both committed to apprehending Shakiel in order to serve a higher purpose.

In the line of fire unintentionally, we find young Ryan Kennedy (Lamar Waves). He witnessed the stabbing incident and progressively finds himself entangled in Shakiel’s questionable business affairs.

So, how does it all end for everyone in this story? Here’s an in-depth look at the conclusion of The Tower season 3.

The opening scene of the last episode finds Sarah receiving a call from Ryan’s mom, following an incident where Jermaine King, the same man who murdered Spencer the previous night, abducted Ryan’s sister, Tia.

1) Jermaine managed to break free from detention, and Sarah informed Kieran about it. However, Kieran was annoyed. He clarified that this situation could potentially lead Shakiel to distribute illegal machine guns among teenagers. Unfortunately, it might result in the demise of Ryan or his sister.

On the verge of closing a major arms transaction, Shakiel is traveling with Steve, and they finalize the agreement with one of their customers. In the meantime, they exchange vehicles during this process.

However, when faced with armed law enforcement officers, Shakiel chooses to flee instead. He’s just about to grab his firearm, but ultimately surrenders upon being apprehended. The police later discover a vehicle loaded with weapons in his possession.

Meanwhile, Ryan, who had initially intended to shoot Shakiel but changed his mind at the last second, remains onlooker. However, instead of revealing himself, Ryan conceals himself near the scene and discovers more than he expected. In particular, he spies Steve exchanging handshakes with police officers, suggesting that Steve is indeed collaborating with them.

Shakiel gets taken into custody for illegally bringing in firearms, an apprehension that Kieran had been eagerly anticipating. Meanwhile, even though it’s a trick, Steve is also detained, but from within the car, Kieran phones him to inform him that Ryan has vanished during his sister’s abduction.

In an attempt to locate Ryan, knowing that he’s been frequently visiting Steve at his apartment, Kieran asks Steve to go back there, hoping that Ryan might drop by. Coincidentally, Lizzie notices Ryan on the security cameras and assumes he’s aware of Steve following Shakiel’s arrest, so she contacts Kieran.

As I flick my phone back to life, a call from an unfamiliar number catches my attention – it’s Jermaine, Tia’s brother, on the line. In a chilling tone, he accuses me of being a snitch and threatens to harm his sister unless we meet up. With a knot in my stomach, I agree to a rendezvous at 14 Foley Street, all while spotting Steve strolling down the street in the distance.

In conversation with Lizzie, Kieran explains that they deactivated the internal camera in Steve’s apartment. This means when Lizzie reviews the external CCTV footage, she discovers that Ryan confronted Steve armed with a gun as he entered his flat. If only Lizzie had been permitted to rewind the footage initially, they might have identified Ryan at Shakiel’s arrest and potentially prevented this entire situation.

As Sarah observes the street where Ryan and Jermaine were supposed to meet, she notices that Jermaine is leaving and heading towards Ryan’s designated location at Steve’s apartment. Meanwhile, back at Steve’s place and on the opposite side of the road, Kieran and Lizzie are keeping an eye on things, but when they hear a gunshot, Kieran decides it’s necessary for him to intervene.

Ryan’s fury erupts upon discovering that it might be Steve who’s been ratting him out – an act he himself stands accused of. He declares that the next bullet will be fired in Steve’s direction, but Kieran steps up to knock on the door, hoping to deescalate the situation.

At Jermaine’s vehicle, Sarah notices it’s on fire behind him. She quickly breaks open the trunk to free Tia, who is bound inside. Fortunately, Sarah manages to save her just in time, and she contacts Kieran to inform him that Tia is secure. As Ryan aims a gun at Kieran, he receives the call from Tia, assuring him she’s okay and urging him to return home.

However, as Ryan returns the phone to Kieran, Kieran reminds him to consider his own position, implying that Jermaine might face arrest for Tia’s abduction.

At that moment, both Ryan and Lizzie noticed Jermaine approaching his apartment. To prevent Jermaine from reaching the flat, Lizzie decided to move from her hiding spot, but unfortunately, she was seen by Ryan, who recognized her as a police officer because he had been previously arrested by her.

As I unravel the deception woven by Kieran and Steve, my temper flares, pushing me towards the window sill with the notion of taking matters into my own hands against Jermaine. In that moment, a gunshot echoes, coinciding with Lizzie’s daring advance on Jermaine, who is swiftly apprehended by the police wielding their badges, just as I was reaching for my own weapon.

Inside Steve’s apartment, it’s at first uncertain who’s injured, but as Steve exits unscathed, Lizzie enters and finds Kieran lying critically wounded on the floor, having been shot by Ryan. He’s rapidly losing blood, but help from emergency services is arriving. Lizzie whispers her love to him as Ryan is being apprehended.

Approaching the Shaw residence, Detective Constable Parker (Harriet Webb) shares with Mary, Kieran’s spouse, that Kieran is gravely ill. However, Mary promptly shuts the door and mentions she has to gather her belongings.

In the garage, Mary destroyed the mobile phone connected to season 1’s suspicious incident and Farah’s demise, using a hammer. However, Parker intervened, and subsequently, he escorted her to the hospital to visit Kieran.

It’s been confirmed that Kieran passed away due to his injuries. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Mary tells Lizzie that she’s damaged her phone.

What happens to Ryan in The Tower season 3 finale?

Steve passes a USB containing evidence to Sarah and instructs her to bring Shakiel into the loop, not just regarding the smuggling of weapons, but also about whatever else this may involve. Later at the police station, Sarah shares one of the audio files with Jerrell, a member of Shakiel’s group.

Despite appearing faithful to Shakiel, an overheard recording reveals Shakiel referring to Jerrell as his “dog.” As a result, it’s not surprising that Jerrell begins to ponder the wisdom of continuing to remain loyal to someone who sees him in such derogatory terms.

At the end of the episode, Steve appears to be savoring life once more – if only trying – as he’s spotted relaxing with his boys. Meanwhile, Lizzie seems deeply saddened by the grief that has overcome her, and Sarah remains at home, following the developing news story about Kieran’s murder on television.

It becomes clear that Ryan is accused and indicted for the murder of Kieran, and we’re given a series of recollections depicting how swiftly he found himself entangled in Shakiel’s sphere without full awareness.

As he’s escorted off in a police vehicle bound for prison, he pulls out a tiny note – evidently penned by Steve – which says, “Congratulations, you succeeded.”

Starting this coming Monday, September 2nd, all the way through to Thursday, I’ll be tuning in every night at 9pm on both ITV1 and ITVX for season 3 of The Tower! Don’t miss it!
