As a die-hard Sonic fan who grew up with the blue blur, I must say that seeing him take over Netflix is like a dream come true! It’s been quite a journey since those early days of playing the Sega Genesis games and watching the animated series. The fact that the first Sonic movie has become one of the top titles on Netflix just a day after it was added is nothing short of amazing.
This year, the third movie in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” film series will be released in cinemas, and fans all over are clearly looking forward to this upcoming flick. Not just that, but the spinoff show, “Knuckles,” has been a success on Paramount+, and viewers on Netflix are now binge-watching the first movie as the third one nears its release date. Interestingly, the first “Sonic the Hedgehog” film was added to Netflix’s streaming library at the beginning of September, and it quickly became one of the most popular titles available on the platform in just a day!
On Monday’s Netflix Top 10 Movies list, “Sonic the Hedgehog” ranks as the third most-watched film on the platform in North America. Within a day of its release on Netflix, many subscribers were eagerly seeking it out and settling in to watch it.
Apart from Sonic, the only other fresh release that scaled such heights at the beginning of the month is Aloha. This romantic comedy entered the scene on the same day as Sonic and currently holds a position above it on the daily box office rankings.
