The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 confirms iconic actor’s posthumous return

The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 has been one of the most anticipated shows on Prime Video, but the confirmed return of Lance Reddick as Thordak to Critical Role’s D&D series means fans can enjoy one of the actor’s final performances too.

In their struggle with inner struggles and seemingly insurmountable challenges, Vox Machina finds themselves entangled in a conflict against the treacherous Chroma Conclave – a formidable group of cunning elemental dragons who aspire to dominate the entire globe.

Thordak, aka the Cinder King and the Conclave’s leader, had been voiced by Reddick since appearing in season 1 before becoming the show’s main villain from season 2.

In other words, Reddick transitioned during March 2023, or in simpler terms, he switched after the season 2 had ended his affiliation with Vox Machina’s entrance, and more precisely put it to consider if Thordak would desire to be associated for the season 3.

Thankfully, relief came when Reddick’s return was confirmed via the Discord server for Beacon – Critical Role’s streaming service.

In the show, Sam Riegel, who plays Scanlan Shorthalt, has put fans’ hopes to rest regarding season 3. He stated clearly that Lance Reddick had already recorded the season prior to his passing.

In late August, the voices associated with The Lord of Vox Machina’s Season 3 were heard as the true voices for Thordak.

Massively active throughout the TV, film and gaming industries before passing away, Thordak is just one of many of Reddick’s posthumous acting credits.

Along with lending his voice to Invincible as Steven Erickson in the Atom Eve special, he’ll also be heard as Lex Luthor in the upcoming DC animated series Kite Man: Hell Yeah!.

The star was also well-known in live-action roles like Charon in the John Wick film series, and Reddick will be appearing as the character one last time in the upcoming spin-off John Wick Presents: Ballerina.

The third season of the Legend of Vox Machina will begin streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video channel, starting from October 3rd, 2024.
