Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay Preview Released

As a longtime Marvel fan and survivor of the Zombie Apocalypse (thanks to my secret stash of Ant-Man Pym Particles), I couldn’t be more excited for Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay! The preview alone had me on the edge of my seat, and I can feel the adrenaline pumping as I imagine battling zombified Avengers and Guardians.

In a brand new Marvel series coming to Disney+, Groot is responsible for initiating a zombie infestation. The popular franchise, Marvel Zombies, is making a comeback, and fans caught a glimpse of its undead action in the first season of Marvel’s What If…? On Disney+. As we eagerly anticipate the release of Marvel Zombies, the comic book series is delving back into the theme with Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay. This miniseries features the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, with only two members from each team remaining as humanity’s last hope to save the Marvel Universe.

Marvel unveiled a sneak peek of the debut issue of “Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay“, penned by Thomas Krajewski, Jason Muhr, Rachelle Rosenberg, and lettered by VC’s Travis Lanham. The narrative commences with the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy embarking on a mission in a Quinjet. Following repairs by Iron Man and Ant-Man (now transformed into Giant-Man), they engage in a disagreement about the advantages of integrating Pym technology with Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit. After liftoff, Groot approaches Captain America from behind to communicate something; however, his sole utterance is his signature phrase, “I am Groot.”

After Groot emits green spores from a sneeze onto Captain America, this turns out to be the origin of the zombie infestation. Rocket Raccoon attempts to comfort Groot, but meanwhile, Captain America shows signs of discomfort. Black Widow observes that Captain America is struggling and bending on one knee; he expresses his head feeling like it’s ablaze. The scene concludes before we witness if Captain America transforms into a zombie.

What is Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay #1 about?

A fresh zombie virus breaks out, with Groot being referred to as Patient Zero. Groot is troubled – not only because Rocket’s latest plan places them squarely in the Avengers’ line of fire, but also due to his current state of ill-health! Dripping from a sapling nose and all that. Things escalate from troublesome to apocalyptic, though, once an untimely sneeze in Captain America’s direction brings unforeseen consequences!

Out of nowhere, Groot is under siege by a swarm of zombified Avengers, leaving only him and The Incredible Hulk, with his indestructible green hide, unaffected. Now it’s their responsibility to collaborate and battle through a plagued New York City, reaching Banner’s lab in the Avengers Tower, to discover a remedy before it’s too late. However, can Groot control the hero and stick to the plan, or will The Hulk release his lethal power on the zombies who were once allies?
