Joker: Folie à Deux: New Poster Featuring Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga Released

As a fan who’s been following the DC Universe for decades, I must say that the new poster for “Joker: Folie à Deux” has sent shivers down my spine! The thought of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn joining forces is a tantalizing prospect.

In approximately one month, we’ll witness the big-screen debut of “Joker: Madness Expands,” the follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster hit “Joker.” This upcoming film depicts an alternate DC Universe scenario where Arthur Fleck (played by Joaquin Phoenix), a struggling comedian turned into the Joker, has instigated a cultural upheaval. His partner in crime, Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn (portrayed by Lady Gaga), is adding fuel to the chaos. Before “Madness Expands” graces theaters, we get a sneak peek at the mayhem that this dynamic duo is about to unleash.

On Tuesdays, Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled a fresh poster for “Joker: Madness Duo”, displaying both main characters adorned with clown paint while strolling through the city of Gotham. Take a peek at it below.

What Is Joker 2 About?

The upcoming musical titled “Joker: Madness Part 2” will delve into the intricate relationship between Arthur Fleck and Harley Quinn. A significant portion of the movie is expected to unfold within Arkham Asylum. Directed by Todd Phillips, this sequel is anticipated to include characters portrayed by Zazie Beetz, Brendon Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland.

Previously, Beetz expressed her agreement with the film’s musical aspects, stating, “It truly feels fitting.” She added that she wasn’t shocked by Todd’s creative take on the character since he has always been innovative. Beetz is a fan of musicals and believes they provide an outlet for characters to express intense emotions through song and dance, whether it be in sadness or happiness. She also shared that personal experiences resonate with her, as she found dancing and singing to be a therapeutic release during a challenging period in her life. Therefore, she could relate to Arthur, the Joker, expressing his feelings through dance and song. To her, this creative choice seems appropriate for the character.

Is Joker 2 in the DC Universe?

The film titled “Folie à Deux” belongs to the DC Elseworlds category, which means it’s not part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming DC Universe of movies and TV shows exclusively on Max. In a past post on Threads, Gunn mentioned his role in “Folie à Deux”, stating that he provided feedback on the completed footage. However, it’s important to note that the sequel to “Joker” is one of the rare DC films being overseen by Warner Bros. Pictures, due to when the project was initially developed.

At the point when we joined, Todd already had “Joker” completely under control – I’d viewed it and provided feedback, but most of the work was done with WB, where it originated. Everything related to live-action moving forward is what we’re now involved in,” Gunn wrote at the time.

Joker: Folie ? Deux will be released exclusively in theaters on Friday, October 4th.
