Furiosa Star Anya Taylor-Joy Wants to Play Frozen's Live-Action Elsa

As a huge fan of Anya Taylor-Joy‘s work, I can’t help but be excited about her latest projects! Her dream role as Elsa from Frozen, if Disney ever decides to do a live-action version, sounds absolutely enchanting. I mean, who wouldn’t want to shoot ice out of their hands and be the favorite at every kid’s birthday party?

Anya Taylor-Joy has portrayed several remarkable characters, yet there’s one role that she finds particularly appealing – the character of Elsa from Frozen. According to Vogue Hong Kong (as reported by Entertainment Weekly), Taylor-Joy expressed a strong desire for this role if Disney were ever to create a live-action version of the beloved animated film. In conversation with the magazine, Taylor-Joy shared her dream of performing in a musical and then mentioned Frozen as an exciting opportunity because it would not only be intriguing due to Elsa’s powers, but also because it would be delightful to play a character that her siblings’ kids recognize and cherish.

In a lively manner, Taylor-Joy expressed her enthusiasm for taking on a musical production. She confessed to being somewhat workaholic, stating that she enjoys challenges which seem insurmountable. The prospect of having to perform singing, dancing, and acting simultaneously was something that excited her immensely.

She went on to say, “I believe Frozen would be fantastic! Imagine being able to shoot ice from your hand. Plus, you’d be the star at every kid’s birthday party. Since all of my siblings have kids now, it would be wonderful if they could say, ‘My auntie is Elsa.’ That would be quite cool.”

Frozen 3 is In the Works

It seems that Disney hasn’t officially confirmed it, but there is speculation about a live-action version of Frozen. A third installment is expected to release on November 24, 2024. At a recent D23 event, producer Jennifer Lee hinted at the possibility of a fourth Frozen film. During development, the story expanded into two parts, with Lee suggesting in 2023 that the movie could potentially become two films.

In other words, Lee stated that only the information we’ve previously discussed (the team is working diligently, we are very enthusiastic about the tale we are creating collaboratively, and it’s so grand that it might exceed a single movie) was what he had to share at that moment.

Anya Taylor-Joy is Headed Back to Netflix for New Series

As a gaming enthusiast, let me share some exciting news! Although I haven’t gotten around to playing with Elsa just yet, I am looking forward to seeing Florence Pugh (Taylor-Joy) again on Netflix. This Emmy-winning actress from The Queen’s Gambit is all set to take on a new role in an adaptation of Bella Mackie’s bestselling novel, How To Kill Your Family. In this story, I’ll be cheering for Florence as she brings Grace Bernard, the murderous protagonist, to life!

“Immediately after finishing the book, Taylor-Joy expressed that she wanted to contribute to its adaptation. She had previously admired Bella Mackie, and now couldn’t wait to work with Sally, Lizzie, and Emma on this project. Taylor-Joy is excited about getting involved in the process, perhaps even getting a bit messy.”

It’s exciting to see my characters come alive under this talented creative group, Mackie noted. Anya seems to be an ideal choice for portraying Grace, as I sometimes feel she grasps her character better than I do. Working with Sid Gentle has been a delight, and meeting Emma has boosted my confidence that the book is in capable hands.

Frozen 3 is currently scheduled to open in theaters on November 24, 2027.
