Release Window, Available Editions, and Bonuses
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is all set to launch digitally for PC (on Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation (PS4 and PS5), and Xbox (One and Series X/S) on September 3, 2024. The Standard Edition won’t be available physically, but the Deluxe Edition will hit stores on November 8, 2024.
For Nintendo Switch players, it’s still a wait as the official launch date hasn’t been set. However, you can expect it to drop sometime during the upcoming holiday season of this year.
For those with a PlayStation Plus subscription, you’ll have the opportunity to obtain the Standard Edition at no cost on both PS4 and PS5 systems during the timeframe of September 3rd to September 30th, 2024. Don’t forget to secure your game within this period!
Speaking of the different editions, here’s what they all contain:
- Standard Edition – Available only digitally and is the basic edition, including just the game. It will go on sale for $29.99 USD.
- Deluxe Edition – Will be available first digitally with a delayed physical release, as we mentioned before. It will cost $39.99 USD and you’ll get the following bonuses with the game:
- 4 House Pack DLCs, one for each of the four houses of Hogwarts. Each pack includes cosmetics for your character and Broom that represent the houses.
- A bonus of 2000 Gold, which is an in-game currency you can use to purchase items. This isn’t a premium currency, though, as the game has no microtransactions announced. It’s the same currency you earn through just playing the game.
In addition to the current editions, anyone who has already placed a pre-order for any of them will receive the Firebolt Supreme Broom Skin.
In addition, if you already own Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll receive a Bonus Legacy Pack as a bonus. This pack includes Sebastian Sallow as a hero, along with special wand and broom skins for him. Additionally, you’ll get the Ancient Magic Emblem and an Ancient Magic Celebration. Remember, these items are purely cosmetic!
Game Modes
At the game’s release, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will offer four distinct play styles to choose from. It’s crucial to understand these options prior to purchasing the game. Here are the available modes:
- Career – A story mode where you start your Quidditch career at the Weasley Burrow in the Garden Cup and work your way up to the Quidditch World Cup. Can be played in either single-player or co-op.
- Multiplayer – As the name implies, this is the main multiplayer mode for the game. You get to take part in 3v3 PvP Quidditch matches!
- Exhibition – A casual co-op mode. Team up with 2 other players to play matches against bots and learn the ropes of the game.
- Open Practice – A customizable training mode that allows you to try out techniques and learn more about how to play Quidditch.
Typically, it’s necessary to have an active PlayStation Plus, Game Pass Core, or Nintendo Switch Online subscription to enjoy the multiplayer features.
To ensure an enjoyable gaming experience, we strongly advise giving Career and Open Practice a spin prior to jumping into the Multiplayer mode. The competition in this game is intense, especially since it’s brand new!
The Basics of Quidditch
As a fellow gaming enthusiast who’s new to the magical world of Quidditch, I’m here to fill you in! If you’re considering diving into Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, you’ve landed on the perfect spot!
In the enchanting world of sports, teams consist of six wizards (with three human players and three robotic ones in Quidditch Champions) soar through the air on their brooms while attempting to grab a ball called the Quaffle. Once they successfully seize the Quaffle, they must toss it into one of the opposing team’s three hoops, earning 10 points for their team with each successful goal.
Furthermore, players will face relentless assaults from spheres made of iron called Bludgers. It’s crucial to dodge them while flying, or risk being unseated from your broom!
As a gamer, I’ve got to keep my eyes peeled for the swift, golden-hued ball zipping around – that’s the elusive Golden Snitch! Catching it nets you 30 points for your team. Contrary to what the books might suggest, snagging the Golden Snitch doesn’t automatically grant a win with 150 points. Instead, it adds some extra excitement and balance to the game, even if it strays slightly from the original lore!
The importance you place on different elements of the game will depend on the role you decide to assume. Here are the roles each team offers:
- Chasers – There are 2 of these in each team. They’re responsible for getting the Quaffle and trying to score goals.
- Beaters – There are 2 in every team. They’re the ones who have to watch out for Bludgers and defending their team.
- Keeper – The sole goalkeeper in the team, this player will stay in front of the hoops and try to block any Chasers from scoring.
- Seekers – There’s only one in each team and this is the role Harry Potter is famous for. Seekers’ only goal is to try to capture the Golden Snitch.
Character Customization
Last but not least, it’s time to talk about who you’ll be playing as if you end up buying Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.
Great news! You’ll have the opportunity to play using your unique character or popular characters from the books and movies. There’s a wide variety of cosmetic choices for you to explore and even unlock, enabling you to design your own wizard. Alternatively, you can opt for the ‘Hero Skins’ to embody specific characters!
Besides choosing from a variety of brooms, you have the option to personalize your selection as well. Each broom comes with distinct attributes, and you can enhance these characteristics by upgrading them. Additionally, you can customize their appearance with cosmetic skins for an individualized look while maintaining the original stats.
Lastly, you will also earn Skill Points as you play the game. Use them to unlock special skills and upgrade your character’s stats, allowing you to customize your play style. What’s more, you can freely reassign Skill Points whenever you want if you want to change your strategy or your current setup just didn’t work out.
But well, that brings us to the end of our list of everything you should know before buying Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. Whichever edition you end up going for, you’re sure to get the most complete videogame adaption of Quidditch yet!
