As a seasoned gamer and horror movie enthusiast with a soft spot for psychological thrillers, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation upon hearing about the upcoming release of Smile 2. Having spent countless hours exploring eerie digital landscapes filled with jump scares and unsettling atmospheres, I find myself drawn to stories that delve into the human psyche and its darker corners.
Title 2 of the movie “Smile” has been given an R rating by the Motion Picture Association. The film, which has already shared its poster and trailer this week, received the mature-17-and-above rating due to “intense violent content with gruesome images, pervasive language, and drug use.” In Paramount’s “Smile 2”, pop star Skye Riley (played by Naomi Scott) continues to encounter chilling, eerie smiles after witnessing a friend’s suicide. These unsettling visions follow her not only on a global tour but also into her most personal moments. In the trailer, she even contemplates halting her heart medically as a desperate attempt to “expire” and deceive the supernatural occurrence that appears determined to claim her life. It’s an innovative solution for an unusual predicament, you have to admit, but it may not be the advice most medical professionals would offer
To put it simply, the guidance originates from Peter Jacobson, a renowned actor who played the role of Dr. Chris Taub for many years in the critically-acclaimed series House M.D., and now, as Ahsoka from the popular Star Wars series
Previously, director Parker Finn shared with ComicBook that he hadn’t anticipated the movie Smile turning into a series, and was taken aback when the initial release turned out to be a success, potentially paving the way for a follow-up film
In 2022, Finn stated, “I designed Smile to stand alone, yet fully convey its narrative. To my surprise, a sequel demand arose. However, I believe there are certain elements within the movie that were intentionally left unresolved, which could make for an intriguing exploration. Additionally, there are aspects from the first film that didn’t get addressed due to budget limitations or story fitting constraints, which I think would be thrilling to explore further.”
The sequel will arrive next month, perfectly timed for Halloween, following the release of its poster a day ago, with the newest trailer now available
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

In the role of director and writer, Parker Finn presents the cast for Smile 2, which includes Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Ray Nicholson, Dylan Gelula, Ra?l Castillo, and Kyle Gallner
