Exceptional X-Men Trailer Released by Marvel

As a seasoned comic book enthusiast who has been following the X-Men since the 90s, I can confidently say that the new addition to the Marvel universe – Exceptional X-Men – is a breath of fresh air! Having grown up with the original team, it’s refreshing to see a new generation taking center stage.

A fresh trailer showcases Marvel’s Remarkable X-Team, as the X-Men: Rising from the Embers storyline unfolds. In the current scenario post-Krakoa, this is the third X-Men squad making its appearance. Although the X-Men and Unusual X-Men boast characters like Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, and Magneto, don’t forget about the Exceptional X-Team. The initial issue of Exceptional X-Men is now available for purchase in comic book shops and online platforms, and a trailer offers a sneak peek into this debut issue and what lies ahead

In a new series titled “Extraordinary X-Men“, Marvel has unveiled its trailer. This comic book is penned by Eve L. Ewing and illustrated by Carmen Carnero. The story revolves around Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost guiding a fresh crop of mutants, who struggle to adapt in a society that despises and fears them. The narrative echoes previous series like New Mutants, Generation X, and Academy X, but this time it primarily focuses on three mutants: the metal-clad, whip-wielding Bronze, the emotionally charged Axo, and the stealthy combatant Melee. The debut issue, “Extraordinary X-Men” #1, mainly features Kitty Pryde and Melee, while Issue #2 introduces Melee and Axo. Moreover, it’s been announced that Iceman will officially join the cast in December’s “Exceptional X-Men” #4

Writer Eve L. Ewing explains that the title “Exceptional X-Men” is fitting because, as someone who was a poet before creating comics, she appreciates how it sounds well amidst the many X-related adjectives. Moreover, these X-Men stand out because they don’t bear the same historical baggage as our other characters, being unconnected to Krakoa, team politics, or the past era of mutanthood. Essentially, they are a group of Midwestern teenagers grappling with their abilities, much like previous generations of young mutants

Concerning the trio of young mutants, Carnero mentioned that everyone on the team grew quite fond of each one. He adores how distinct they are from one another. Eve, in particular, had a strong personality, interests, musical preferences, and emotional expressions. The process of designing these characters felt organic, and the whole team shared a clear idea of what their finished appearances would look like. Carnero is eager for readers to get acquainted with them
