Beetlejuice TV Series Is Finally Streaming for Free

As a seasoned gamer and a dedicated fan of all things Tim Burton, I can’t contain my excitement over the free streaming of the classic animated series “Beetlejuice” on Tubi! Growing up, this show was a regular fixture on weekend mornings, and it played a significant role in shaping my love for quirky, imaginative storytelling.

At last, the much-anticipated animated series Beetlejuice, inspired by Tim Burton’s iconic comedy, is now freely accessible online. Originally airing from 1989 to 1991 across four seasons, it first premiered on ABC before shifting to Fox in its final season. In the ’90s, it was a regular on syndicated re-runs, but had been absent for years until Shout! Factory released it on DVD in 2013. Since then, it has been available on physical media and digital sale platforms, but now, for the first time, it’s free to stream online

This month, I got my hands on “Beetlejuice” over on Tubi! For me and fellow fans, this is an extra thrill because Tubi is a free, ad-supported TV platform. That means no need for a hefty subscription fee to catch this movie!

The “Beetlejuice” animated show features Lydia Deetz and Beetlejuice as main characters, but their interactions and personalities in this version differ greatly from the 1988 film. In the cartoon, Lydia comes off as slightly peculiar yet generally optimistic, contrasting with her gloomier self in the movie. Conversely, Beetlejuice is depicted more as a trickster trying to pull off cons, rather than the dangerous lunatic who harasses Lydia as portrayed in the film

In the cartoon, they switched the afterlife to “Neitherworld,” a place filled with quirky, supernatural side characters who weren’t very prominent in Lydia’s family’s movie scenes. The show’s atmosphere is somewhat eerie, leaning more towards Vampirina‘s style than the tone of the Beetlejuice film. This change seemed to aid Warner Bros. and others in selling merchandise, including Michael Keaton who found it a bit unusual

Here’s the official synopsis for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is coming to theaters this week:

“The specter of Beetlejuice resurfaces! A heart-wrenching family event forces the Deetz family, spanning three generations, to return to Winter River. Haunted by the ghostly presence of Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life takes a dramatic turn when her headstrong teenage daughter Astrid stumbles upon an odd model of the town in the attic. Inadvertently, they activate a gateway to the Afterlife. With trouble simmering in both worlds, it won’t be long before someone utters Beetlejuice’s name thrice, and the mischievous spirit reappears to spread chaos as only he can!”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to hit theaters on September 6th.
