Gisele Shaw Breaks Silence on TNA Release

As a long-time follower of TNA and a fan of Gisele Shaw, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing her transformation from a promising newcomer to a seasoned professional over the years. From her early days in Canada, through her stints in Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom, Gisele has carved out a unique niche for herself – that of the Quintessential Diva, breaking down stereotypes and showcasing her versatility.

Yesterday, I learned that Gisele Shaw, one of my favorite TNA Knockouts, is leaving the company. She made a few appearances on various TNA shows back in 2018 and officially joined as a full-time member in January 2022. Although she never claimed the Knockouts Championship, her career with the promotion has been thriving. According to Fightful Select, Shaw will be granted her release after completing the tapings in Louisville, Kentucky this past weekend

This afternoon, Shaw expressed her gratitude towards TNA on social media by saying, “I want to thank everyone who reached out to me. I’ve been touched by the love and support I’ve received over the past 24 hours. I’m grateful for the chances TNA has given me over the past three years, and I’m eager to start a fresh chapter and experience the challenges and thrills that are coming up.”

“The Quintessential Diva” has participated in numerous Knockouts World Championship bouts throughout her two-and-a-half-year career, facing off against Mickie James, Deonna Purrazzo, and current titleholder Jordynne Grace. In January, she clinched the Knockouts Ultimate X match, an achievement that only the second time in TNA history. Her wrestling journey isn’t set in stone yet. She is booked for performances in Scott D’Amore’s newly launched Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, where she is anticipated to be a regular performer. Shaw embarked on her professional wrestling path in 2016 in Canada, but soon gained recognition from promotions within Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom

“Who could be more suitable for change than the queen of transformation, isn’t that so?” Shaw expressed to Fightful’s In The Weeds following her comeback in May. “I’ve been the Essence of a Diva because I aimed to alter the negative perception tied to the term ‘Diva.’ It often carries the connotation of ‘ugh, Diva, can’t wrestle, it’s all about looks.’ I wanted to reshape the story and exhibit a different facet of being a diva. Being a diva isn’t just about beauty; it means you’re versatile, more than just a pretty face. You’re not just a TNA figure, no intended pun. At this moment, we’re veering towards a new path, and as the Essence of Knockout, I can’t wait to show everyone the side of Gisele Shaw that I’ve portrayed on the independent circuit. I believe the devoted TNA audience hasn’t yet seen the complete Gisele Shaw that I’ve presented in the independent scene” (h/t: Fightful)
