Wicked Gets All-New Full-Length Trailer

As a seasoned gamer and musical theater enthusiast with a soft spot for all things magical, I must admit that the latest trailer of Wicked has me absolutely spellbound! With my years of experience watching countless productions and performances, I can confidently say that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are perfect choices to bring these iconic characters to life.

The latest preview for the upcoming movie, “Wicked”, has been unveiled, with the release date fast approaching. In this new sneak peek, fans can see Ariana Grande’s character Glinda and Cynthia Erivo’s character Elphaba engaging in conversation and hinting at some magical abilities. Interestingly, there seems to be no singing featured in the fresh “Wicked” trailer. To satisfy eager fans, there is a scene where “Defying Gravity” is shown. However, it appears that Universal and their promotional team are holding back on revealing the iconic songs sung by the two leads for now. You can watch the new trailer here

Last year, director Jon M. Chu explained why the film of Wicked was rescheduled to this fall. He stated on social media, “As we have been working on the production over the past year, it proved challenging to condense the story of Wicked into a single movie without causing significant harm to it.” As they attempted to remove songs or reduce characters, these decisions felt like critical sacrifices to the beloved source material that has provided entertainment for decades

He stated, “Instead of creating a single ‘Wicked’ film, we chose to produce two! This allows us to fully unfold the tale of ‘Wicked’ in its intended manner, adding layers of depth and astonishment to the adventures of these cherished characters.”

What’s The Story Of Wicked?

In a magical land called Oz, two students at Shiz University, Glinda and Elphaba, form an unusual yet profound friendship. After meeting The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship faces a turning point, leading them down separate paths. As Glinda becomes increasingly drawn to popularity and power, Elphaba stays true to herself and those around her, which leads to surprising and startling events in her life. Their extraordinary journeys across the land of Oz will eventually shape them into Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West

“This movie features Michelle Yeoh, who won an Oscar for her role as the stern yet kind Madame Morrible, the headmistress at Shiz University. Also starring is Jonathan Bailey, known from his roles in Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers, playing Fiyero, a reckless but cheerful prince. Ethan Slater, nominated for a Tony, appears as Boq, a compassionate Munchkin student. Marissa Bode makes her film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s beloved sister. Lastly, the popular cultural icon Jeff Goldblum portrays the legendary Wizard of Oz.”
