Deadpool & Wolverine Behind-the-Scenes Pics Offer New Looks at Blade

As a lifelong Marvel fan who grew up watching Wesley Snipes’ Blade trilogy, I was absolutely thrilled to see him grace the screen once again in Deadpool & Wolverine. It’s been 18 long years since we last saw Blade in action, and it feels like no time has passed at all. The makeup and costume team truly brought him back to life, and Snipes himself looked as sharp as ever.

Marvel enthusiasts will have the opportunity to revisit Wesley Snipes as Blade in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine. This movie, which revolves around a multiverse journey starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, marks a return of Blade on the big screen since 2004’s Blade: Trinity. The appearance of Snipes’ Blade alongside Reynolds, Jackman, and other guest stars like Jennifer Garner, Dafne Keen, and Channing Tatum was quite unexpected. Now, fans can get an exclusive sneak peek into the Marvel Studios makeup and costume department’s work in resurrecting Blade for this exciting new adventure

Bill Corso, a makeup artist, posted behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, featuring Wesley Snipes as Blade on social media. In his Instagram post dated July 14, 2023, he recalled that this day was significant because it represented not only the midpoint of Deadpool and Wolverine production, but also the potential start of a SAG strike, which indeed occurred. On this chaotic day, they filmed an extensive sequence featuring Wolverine battling Sabertooth, as well as tested the looks for Elektra, Gambit, and Blade. All three actors had been preparing and training to begin filming the following Monday. Unsurprisingly, these tests went smoothly, leaving everyone involved very satisfied

In this updated version, the sentence might read: “Check out these pictures featuring the original Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Blade after two decades. Just like a day walker, he hasn’t aged a bit, according to Corso. It was actually Snipes who came up with the concept of white hair on the goatee and head, and I concur with @vancityreynolds that the applause when Blade appears on screen was truly impressive and fitting.”

Ryan Reynolds wants Wesley Snipes’ Blade to get the Logan treatment

Ryan Reynolds expresses his desire for Wesley Snipes, known for his role as Blade, to receive a similar movie treatment like that of Hugh Jackman in “Logan.” On his X (previously Twitter) account, he acknowledges Snipes’ significant role in paving the way for the Fox Marvel Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe

“Blade paved the way for the Marvel Universe, earning him the nickname ‘Marvel Dad.’ Ryan Reynolds paid tribute to him with a post similar to Logan’s farewell. Retweet if you agree! #DeadpoolAndWolverine

The project was overseen by Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, and Simon Kinberg as executive producers.
