Could Agatha Harkness Cameo in The Fantastic Four: First Steps?

As a seasoned Marvel enthusiast with decades of comic books under my belt, I must say that the prospect of Agatha Harkness making a cameo in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is not only plausible but also incredibly exciting!

Over the coming years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is venturing into uncharted territory with upcoming blockbuster films and groundbreaking Disney+ series. One of the upcoming projects is “Agatha All Along”, a new Disney+ series focusing on the further escapades of Agatha Harkness from “WandaVision” (played by Kathryn Hahn). So far, the eerie atmosphere and broader mystical links have been the main topic of discussion for Agatha All Along. However, there’s also speculation about Agatha’s potential long-term role in the MCU, considering her limited time in Marvel Comics. For those familiar with Agatha’s comic book background, could she possibly make a guest appearance in 2025’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”?

“First Steps” is set to debut in the following summer, with a focus on rekindling the love for Marvel’s original family for contemporary audiences. This fresh take will also embrace the team’s distinctive ’60s comic book style from their early days. Notably, “First Steps” will be set in an alternate universe compared to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), potentially allowing various MCU characters to undergo significant changes and make unexpected appearances on screen.

Given that Agatha’s character depth hasn’t been fully explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond her joking about babysitting in WandaVision, and the close timing of Agatha All Along and First Steps releases, a cameo from Kathryn Hahn could be an exciting way to surprise viewers and distinguish the Fantastic Four’s world from our own. Although it’s uncertain if Franklin will appear in First Steps, even a brief appearance by Agatha within Reed and Sue’s world could achieve the same effect. Remember, we’ve already glimpsed what 60s Agatha would look like through WandaVision’s sitcom-styled distortions of reality. Kathryn Hahn herself has mentioned that she would only join larger MCU parts if they were “necessary and juicy.” Given the visually unique and thematically different nature of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it could definitely meet those criteria.

What Is The Fantastic Four: First Steps About?

Details about the plot of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” have yet to be disclosed. The film is helmed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on “WandaVision”. The cast includes Moss-Bachrach, Pedro Pascal taking on Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, and Joseph Quinn portraying Johnny Storm / Human Torch. Additionally, Ralph Ineson will play Galactus, Julia Garner is set for Shalla-Bal / Silver Surfer, while Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and John Malkovich are currently keeping their roles a secret.

“In a 2023 interview, Shakman expressed that this project is unique in numerous aspects. He wishes he could elaborate further, but due to certain constraints, he can’t. However, he believes it will be an unprecedented experience, unlike anything you’ve watched before, especially compared to Marvel productions.”

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is currently scheduled to debut in theaters on July 25, 2025.
