Dave Bautista Hopeful for Guardians of the Galaxy Reunion in the DC Universe

As a gamer with a soft spot for Marvel and DC movies, I can’t help but feel a pang of excitement every time I hear about potential crossovers between these two universes. The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions, laughter, and action, and to see its cast members potentially teaming up again, this time in the DC Universe, is nothing short of thrilling.

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” series indisputably made a lasting impression on viewers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, presenting an eccentric group of space-dwelling outlaws over three films and a holiday special, directed by James Gunn. Following the premiere of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” last year, fans have been eagerly waiting to learn if and where the series’ diverse cast will appear next, either in the MCU or in Gunn’s upcoming projects within the DC Universe. In an interview with ComicBook about his new movie “The Killer’s Game,” which includes a brief reunion of the Guardians with actress Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax) discussed the potential for collaborating with more of his co-stars in the DCU again.

In our interview, Bautista expressed that his aim is indeed so (yes), as he put it. He wants to collaborate with Chris and Zoe beyond the Marvel Universe since he has previously worked with Karen Gillan on a different project and Pom now.

Absolutely, Bautista confirmed. When asked about the possibility of a crossover in the DC Universe, he expressed his agreement and openness, stating that it depends on the right role. However, he’s enthusiastic about collaborating with James again, and would be more than willing to do so.

Who Would Dave Bautista Play in the DC Universe?

Currently, Bautista hasn’t been formally confirmed to play a character in the DC Universe yet, but fans are already advocating for him as potential choices ranging from Bane to Hugo Strange. In an interview with ComicBook this year, Bautista mentioned that he hadn’t had any formal discussions about the role with Gunn, but he’s eagerly awaiting the prospect.

“I’d be thrilled to collaborate with James once more, regardless of the project. Frankly, I admire James Gunn immensely as a director, and our bond is invaluable. If given the chance, I’d work for nothing just to be part of his team again. However, we haven’t discussed it yet. He’s currently focused on DC projects, while I continue my own work. But I remain open to the possibility and have communicated this to him.”

The Killer’s Game hits theaters on Friday, September 13th.
