As a die-hard Linkin Park fan since their Xero days, this reunion feels like a long-awaited homecoming. The band’s journey has been marked by highs and lows, but their resilience and ability to adapt have always shone through. The addition of Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain to the lineup is not just a tribute to Chester Bennington’s memory, but a testament to the power of music and friendship that transcends time and tragedy.
In the end, this Linkin Park reunion is all that matters.
The band, originally consisting of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, Joe Hahn, and the late Chester Bennington, has just released their first single since 2017’s “The Emptiness Machine”. They are also set to release an album titled “From Zero” on November 15, along with two new band members joining the group.
In the wake of lead vocalist Bennington’s passing in 2017, Dead Sara’s frontwoman Emily Armstrong is set to join them as a support act. Furthermore, producer Colin Brittain will contribute to the band by playing the drums during their reunion. This reunited rock group is planning a six-date arena tour that will take them to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota.
After the passing of their lead vocalist, it was reported by Variety that Shinoda, Delson, Phoenix, Hahn had been secretly getting together and collaborating with various musicians until they discovered a unique connection with Armstrong and Brittain. For the first time as their expanded six-member lineup, Linkin Park took the stage on September 5 in a Los Angeles studio lot for a live performance attended by ticketed fans and streamed online through their website.
In the press statement, Shinoda shared that prior to Linkin Park, our band was named Xero. The title of this album reflects not only our initial modest start but also the path we’re currently navigating. Sonically and emotionally, it encapsulates the past, present, and future – it embodies our distinctive sound yet is fresh and vibrant.
He continued that the upcoming album was “made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans.”
In the year 2017, Chester Bennington, the ex-vocalist of Linkin Park, took his own life at the age of 41, a tragic event that occurred approximately two months after the band put out their final single titled “One More Light.” He leaves behind his wife, Talinda Bennington, as well as his son and twin daughters, and three other children from past relationships.
In the aftermath of Bennington’s passing in 2018, Linkin Park expressed that his “memory” and “presence” continued to envelop them.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the band expressed that your unique spirit left an unforgettable mark on ours – our laughter, our happiness, and our sensitivity. We’re forever thankful for the love, life, and creative energy you shared with us and the world. Our hearts ache more than words can convey as we miss you deeply.
