Beetlejuice 2: Who Dies in the Sequel?

Delia Deetz

Due to her deep sorrow over the demise of her husband Charles, Delia Deetz takes extraordinary measures reminiscent of her own style to pay tribute to his life and grieve his passing. In an attempt to echo ancient Egyptian royalty, she dares to take venomous bites from a pair of Egyptian Asps, symbolizing her desire to accompany her beloved into the afterlife. However, the questionable exotic pet dealer informs her that these snakes have been defanged and are harmless – yet this dealer turns out to be untrustworthy, resulting in fatal snakebites for Delia, which ultimately lead her to the realm beyond life.

Following her explorations through the afterlife, Delia strikes a bargain with Betleguese to aid her in rescuing her loved ones. Consequently, Delia encounters her deceased spouse, Charles, once more in the afterlife and takes a significant stride towards an eternal journey.

Charles Deetz

In the initial speculations of fans of Beetlejuice, the storyline for Beetlejuice 2 commences following the demise of Charles Deetz (Jeffrey Jones). Contrary to what people believed, Charles was not on a leisurely bird-watching trip; instead, his plane plunged into the sea. Remarkably, he survived the crash, but unfortunately, while attempting to enter a lifeboat, a shark severed his upper body.

In the movie, Charles Deetz’s lower body has its own storyline, moving aimlessly through the afterlife due to his confusion about being deceased. Later on, Delia Deetz discovers Charles’ damaged remains in this ethereal realm. Eventually, the two characters will climb aboard the “Soul Train” towards the film’s interpretation of heaven.

Delores

In the sequel, Delores (previously married to Beetlejuice, portrayed by Monica Bellucci), who has now passed away and is fragmented, manages to reassemble herself – literally – to become the main antagonist. In her past life, Delores was a witch capable of draining souls, and this ability persists in death, making her a lethal presence to any unfortunate ghost she encounters, leading to “true death.” The film’s climax features a showdown between Delores, Betelguese, and the Deetz women, culminating in Delores being devoured by a Sandworm during Betelguese’s attempt to marry Lydia.

Rory

Justin Theroux’s Rory is the producer on Lydia Deetz’s hit reality show about the paranormal – and is also her over-eager beau. Rory’s arc in the film involves trying to lock down Lydia in marriage (eventually racing Betelgeuse to the alter), for all the wrong reasons. It’s revealed that Rory’s nice-guy act is just that (an act); he’s really scheming on Lydia’s money and looking to get Astrid out of his way. During the climax, both Beetlejuice and Lydia has to take accountability for their respective romantic failings, and Rory is consumed by the same Sandworm that eats Delores.

The Janitor

In the sequel of “Beetlejuice,” Danny DeVito plays a grumpy caretaker in the afterlife. Regrettably, he’s the one who initially encounters Dorothy, resulting in him losing his spirit.

Jeremy

In the upcoming movie “Beetlejuice 2”, Arthur Conti is keeping his character a secret, but it has been revealed that he plays the role of “Jeremy,” a boy residing in Winter River. A notable twist in this sequel involves the disclosure that Jeremy is actually a ghost – the first spectral being Astrid Deetz can perceive. Unlike regular spirits, however, Jeremy is not your average ghost; he is a psychopathic child who slaughtered his own parents and met his end while escaping the law. Jeremy seeks to barter Astrid’s life for his own return from the dead, using the Book of the Dead as a tool to deceive her into performing the necessary spell.

In a thrilling turn of events, Lydia and Delia chase Jeremy towards the forsaken land; eventually, at the peak moment, Betelgeuse carries out his role by banishing Jeremy directly to Hell.

Bob

In Bob’s expanded bio-exorcist business, he serves as Betelgeuse’s trusted second-in-command. Bob gained significant popularity following the sequel and was a beloved character among fans. However, a tragic twist occurs when Delores invades Betelgeuse’s office and extracts Bob’s soul, leaving audiences stunned. To honor his memory, a special R.I.P. tribute is displayed in the credits.
