As a seasoned gamer with decades of PlayStation history under my belt, I must say that Astro Bot has truly touched my heart. The sheer love and dedication to the PlayStation universe is palpable throughout this masterpiece. Even though the final game doesn’t include every character we fans would have loved to see, the behind-the-scenes peek at Sweet Tooth and Fat Princess concept art was a delightful surprise.

View Urgent ForecastThe newly launched game titled “Astro Bot” is brimming with affection for PlayStation, featuring 150 VIP bots modeled after diverse characters spanning various first- and third-party franchises throughout PlayStation’s history. However, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the full extent of the tributes, as the developers, Team Asobi, have likely included numerous references, homages, and hidden gems in the platformer. Despite multiple stages of development, it’s possible that some of these elements didn’t make the cut, but a few seem to have slipped through.
Recently, VGC posted a sneak peek behind-the-scenes video about the creation of “Astro Bot”. In this video, they shared early concept art featuring characters from other franchises that didn’t make it into the final game, such as Sweet Tooth from “Twisted Metal” and Fat Princess from her own franchise. Characters present in the finished game are also depicted in these conceptual drawings. You can watch it below.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to hear that Team Asobi is developing free DLC for the platformer. This means there could be more PlayStation cameos in store for us in the future! Hopefully, they’ve been stockpiling ideas for this and other projects. Fingers crossed for some exciting surprises ahead!
