As a long-time fan of Mortal Kombat, I must say that the upcoming expansion “Khaos Reigns” has me absolutely thrilled! The recent insights into Sektor’s updated lore and gameplay have only served to heighten my anticipation for September 24th.
Sektor. This week alone, we’ve witnessed a demonstration of one of Sektor’s Fatalities, where she hurls her opponent into space and then crashes them back to Earth. Moreover, we’ve also gained some insights into Sektor’s revised backstory that clarifies her role in the current timeline of Mortal Kombat. During the gameplay exhibition, players got a sneak peek at another stage called “The Maze” in Mortal Kombat 1.
Among the new additions to Mortal Kombat through DLC, Sektor is one of the characters making a comeback, alongside Cyrax. Also included are Noob Saibot, Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian, and the T-1000 Terminator. In the timeline of Mortal Kombat 1, a significant change has been made to both Sektor and Cyrax: they have been transformed from male androids/humans into female characters. They are now portrayed as humans wearing suits reminiscent of Iron Man’s.
In the Mortal Kombat universe, Sektor is famously recognized as the Master Armorer of the Lin Kuei. Fresh insights about his background were recently unveiled online, coinciding with the gameplay demonstration.
Sektor was raised deeply embedded in the traditions of the Lin Kuei, as her mother was a distinguished warrior and her father served as the Master Armorer. Her admiration for her father’s exceptional craftsmanship led her to become his apprentice, eventually surpassing him in skill. Upon his retirement, she assumed his role. To honor her mother’s legacy, Sektor also dedicated herself to mastering martial arts. This unique blend of weaponry expertise and combat skills has made Sektor an unparalleled warrior in the realm. Recognizing a kindred spirit, Sub-Zero confided his ambitious vision for the Lin Kuei to her, leading Sektor to join his cause. Now serving as one of Sub-Zero’s most loyal lieutenants, Sektor aims to drive the evolution of the Lin Kuei. Those who refuse to adapt will face elimination.
Lastly, let me introduce you to The Labyrinth. The latest stage from Mortal Kombat 1 was an unexpected bonus featured during the Sektor presentation, as evident in the live stream above during a battle between Sektor and Tanya.
