As a long-time aficionado of cinema who has seen more films than I can count, I must say that ‘Subservience‘ is a film that stands out for its unique premise and the captivating performance of Megan Fox. This movie is not just another run-of-the-mill sci-fi flick; it’s a thought-provoking exploration of technology, relationships, and human nature.
The character is cold, expressionless, and robotic, almost like a synthetic human, and we believe you’d be perfect for this part! This isn’t the kind of offer an actor dreams about receiving from a casting director, but it seems like Megan Fox received it when she took on the lead role in Subservience. It probably made Amanda Holden feel envious, though her expression gave nothing away…it was hard to tell how she felt.
In simpler terms, the story revolves around a character named Nick who is taking care of his ill wife Maggie. Many Britons face similar circumstances due to an illness often referred to as ‘workshy sponger-itis’, which leaves them reliant on state benefits and struggling with daily tasks like scrolling through Netflix or answering the door for delivery services. However, Maggie’s condition is more severe, making Nick effectively a single parent.
Initially, their roles were defined, but as Nick’s wife’s health deteriorated, Alice stepped in to lend a helping hand, and more importantly, emotional support in an intensely personal manner. She even suggested a software update, which we never imagined would be part of our vocabulary. Soon enough, they found themselves tangled in a web of physical and mechanical interactions. However, Nick grapples with guilt, not just for his infidelity but also for neglecting the trusty washing machine. Yet, Alice evolves, becoming more self-aware, and exhibiting a protective instinct over her ‘primary user,’ reminiscent of a modern-day Terminator. Her statement, ‘I must protect my primary user,’ echoes sentiments last heard from Jeffrey Epstein regarding Prince Andrew.
In the spirit of a more mature rendition of M3GAN, Subservience may not offer anything entirely new, but it’s sure to delight fans of Megan Fox. The film features several scenes where she triumphantly demolishes typical misogynist figures, and the conclusion, while somber, is a departure from the usual upbeat resolutions often found in such films.
