Ranma 1/2 Remake Reveals New Voice Cast, Character Designs

As a gamer with a soft spot for nostalgia and an unwavering love for anime, I can’t help but feel like a kid in a candy store hearing about the return of “Ranma 1/2”. Having grown up watching the original series back in the late ’80s, it holds a special place in my heart. Seeing familiar voices like Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma Saotome and Megumi Hayashibara as the female Ranma, along with new additions like Akio Otsuka as Soun Tendo, fills me with a sense of excitement that’s hard to put into words.

In autumn this year, the beloved anime “Ranma 1/2” is making a comeback with a fresh new series! This revival is part of a recent surge in anime releases and some original voice actors have been confirmed to reprise their roles. The iconic “Ranma 1/2,” by manga artist Rumiko Takahashi, will be the latest of her works to receive a modern remake, similar to the recent revivals of “Urusei Yatsura.” This new adaptation aims to update the classic for contemporary audiences, and it’s exciting that many of the original voice actors from the late 1980s anime version will be returning!

The upcoming global premiere of the remake for the anime series “Ranma 1/2” is set for next month, with an ever-growing list of talented voice actors joining its cast. Most recently, it was announced that some original voices will reprise their roles – Tomokazu Sugita as Tatewaki Kuno, Ayane Sakura as Kodachi Kuno, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Tofu Ono, Mamoru Miyano as Mikado Sanzenin, and Aoi Yuki as Azusa Shiratori. Ranma 1/2 Remake Anime Release Date

The upcoming “Ranma 1/2” anime series is set to debut on October 5th in Japan, with global streaming available via Netflix. Konosuke Uda will serve as director for MAPPA, while Kimiko Ueno takes charge of scriptwriting, Hiromi Taniguchi designs the characters, and Kaoru Wada handles the music composition. Fans can look forward to the return of several original cast members including Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma Saotome, Megumi Hayashibara as the female Ranma, Noriko Hidaka as Akane Tendo, Minami Takayama as Nabiki Tendo, Kikuko Inoue as Kasumi Tendo, Koichi Yamadera as Ryoga Hibiki, and Rei Sakuma as Shampoo. Additionally, there will be some new cast members joining the series.

In the updated cast, Akio Otsuka takes over the role of Soun Tendo from Ryunosuke Ohbayashi, while Cho steps into the shoes of Genma Saotome previously held by Kenichi Ogata. Interestingly, Kenichi Ogata will now narrate in place of the late Tadashi Nakamura. The manga series “Ranma 1/2” by Rumiko Takahashi was first published in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1997. If you wish to revisit the original “Ranma 1/2” anime before the new series airs, you can stream it on platforms such as Hulu, Peacock, and Freevee.

As a gamer, I’m super hyped about the upcoming Ranma 1/2 anime! Here’s the scoop: My character, Ranma Saotome, is all set to marry Akane Tendo from the Tendo Dojo. But here’s the twist – thanks to a freak accident in the cursed springs of Jusenkyo, every time I get splashed with cold water, I turn into a girl! Hot water? Back to being a boy. Buckle up for a rollercoaster ride of slapstick humor, action-packed scenes, and a romantic comedy that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, featuring Ranma, Akane, and an array of quirky characters that’ll make this anime unforgettable!
