Wynonna Earp: Vengeance Creator Teases a Roller Coaster of Emotions for Revival

As a devoted fan of the supernatural Western genre, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of Wynonna Earp with the upcoming movie special, Wynonna Earp: Vengeance! After a three-year hiatus since the series finale, it’s a breath of fresh air to know that our favorite demon hunter, Melanie Scrofano’s titular character Wynonna Earp, will be back in action once again.

The film titled “Wynonna Earp: Vengeance” is all set to premiere on Friday, September 13th, on Tubi. This upcoming movie special marks the return of the popular TV series “Wynonna Earp” to our screens, three years after its final episode. Although it’s been a while since viewers last saw Melanie Scrofano as the protagonist, a demon hunter, the series creator Emily Andras assures us that the cast hasn’t skipped a beat. Fans can anticipate a broad spectrum of emotional responses to the movie, and perhaps even a physical one!

Andras shared with Entertainment Weekly (as reported by The Wrap) that the essential elements of the series, such as emotional depth, humor, and high-energy scenes, remain in the special. He added, “This cast is still on top form. It will bring tears to your eyes, laughter to your heart, and perhaps a bit of nausea. It’s as gripping and captivating as Deadwood has ever been.

Star Scrofano hinted that the upcoming film continues 18 months beyond the TV series finale and introduces a terrifying adversary for Wynonna that is the most fearsome villain she has encountered throughout the storyline.

According to Scrofano, this villain is the most terrifying one yet for Wynonna. It resonates with where Wynonna currently stands in her life and it’s likely that she’s never felt so afraid before.

In the upcoming series titled “Wynonna Earp: Vengeance,” the fiery, rebellious, and demon-fighting protagonist Wynonna Earp, who is also the great-great-granddaughter of the legendary lawman Wyatt Earp, will make her comeback to her hometown of Purgatory. Here, she will confront her most formidable adversary yet: a ruthless antagonist obsessed with revenge against Wynonna and everyone dear to her.

Initially airing for four seasons from 2016 to 2021 on Syfy, with the final season being particularly challenging to secure, Wynonna Earp was renewed for a fourth season as early as 2018. However, production on this season faced delays in February 2019 due to financial issues at IDW Entertainment. A passionate fan movement soon formed to save the show. The fourth season premiered on July 26, 2020, and concluded on April 9, 2021. Unfortunately, Wynonna Earp was ultimately cancelled in February 2021. This television series is adapted from the comic book horror Western series of the same name, created by Beau Smith.

The upcoming series titled “Wynonna Earp: Vengeance” brings back the main characters Melanie Scrofano as Wynonna Earp, Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday, Dominique Provost-Chalkley as Waverly Earp, and Katherine Barrell as Nicole Haught. This production is overseen by Emily Andras as writer, creator, and executive producer, with Paolo Barzman at the helm as director. You can catch it on Tubi starting Friday, September 13th.
