Marvel's Star Wars Final Issue Preview Features Luke Skywalker and Ben Solo

As a longtime Star Wars enthusiast who’s witnessed the saga unfold across generations, I must say that Charles Soule’s 50-issue run on Marvel’s Star Wars comic has been nothing short of spectacular! The grand finale, with its focus on Luke Skywalker and Ben Solo, is a poignant reminder of the weight that masters carry in shaping their students.

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Yoda advises Luke Skywalker: “Share your knowledge, not just your strengths, but also your weaknesses, mistakes.” He emphasizes, “Failure is the best teacher, Luke. As masters, it’s our duty to help trainees grow beyond our flaws.” Before Ben Solo, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, was a Jedi apprentice, he was the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, known as Ben Solo. In the final installment of Charles Soule’s 50-issue run on Marvel’s Star Wars comic, Luke and Ben look to the future while contemplating their past at the first Jedi temple on the Outer Rim planet Ossus.

The giant-sized issue takes place before the events of The Force Awakens and revisits the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, when Han was the carbonite-frozen prisoner of Tatooine gangster Jabba the Hutt. In flashback, Luke recounts his return to the planet Gazian in the galaxy’s Mid Rim territories, where he encountered an echo of the High Republic Jedi Master Elzar Mann within the Living Sea of Gazian while continuing his own Jedi training (back in Star Wars #20).

After a five-year series between “Empire” and “Return,” Marvel Comics is starting over with new number one issues that mark the climactic phase of the galactic civil war in the era following “Return of the Jedi.” These stories take place over the time period before the sequel trilogy, which includes “The Force Awakens,” “The Last Jedi,” and “The Rise of Skywalker.

In Star Wars #50 by Charles Soule and Madibek Musabekov, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker imparts a crucial lesson about the delicate equilibrium between Light and Dark to his pupil, Ben Solo.
