As a long-time fan who has spent countless hours exploring the magical worlds of Final Fantasy games, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and confusion regarding the latest news about the series coming to Xbox consoles. On one hand, I’m thrilled at the prospect of diving into these epic adventures on my Xbox Series X/S, especially since some titles like Final Fantasy 16 have been elusive for us Xbox gamers in recent years.
Last year when Square Enix unveiled “Final Fantasy 14” for the Xbox Series X/S, they hinted at potentially bringing more of their titles to Microsoft’s consoles. This suggestion led many fans to speculate about other major “Final Fantasy” releases that have bypassed Xbox in recent times, such as “Final Fantasy 16” and the “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” series. However, according to recent updates, while some of these games are indeed being developed for Xbox, others might not be making an appearance.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news that according to Journalist Jez Corden on the Xbox Two podcast, it appears that the entire collection of Final Fantasy games is slated for release on the Xbox Series X/S. This includes the much-anticipated titles such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Final Fantasy 16, and the revamped Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster.
Ever since that revelation, I’ve been keeping a close eye on updates. On the gaming community platform ResetEra, a well-known leaker named NateTheHate has backed up the news that both “Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster” and “Final Fantasy 16” are indeed headed to Xbox. Interestingly, he suggests that “Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster” might be released sooner, and he hints at Square Enix’s support potentially extending beyond just the “Final Fantasy” series.
The source did not reveal information about the “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” series, but it’s been reported by Alex Donaldson on a forum that as of now, there are no Xbox versions being worked on for “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” and its sequel “Rebirth”.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the hints from producer Naoki Yoshida that “Final Fantasy 16” may eventually grace the Xbox Series X/S after its PC debut. While it’s unclear if “Remake” and “Rebirth” are on their radar for the Xbox consoles, the prospect of playing “Final Fantasy” on my Xbox is exciting enough! Here’s to hoping we’ll see more of this legendary series on Microsoft’s platform soon.
