Dragon Ball Theory Suggests Goku Will Soon Explore the Circles of Hell

As a long-time Dragon Ball fan who has been following this franchise since its inception, I must say that the latest development in the upcoming anime “Dragon Ball Daima” has me absolutely thrilled! The idea of Goku embarking on an adventure reminiscent of Dante’s Inferno is nothing short of intriguing.

We’re nearly there with the release of “Dragon Ball Daima”! Announced more than a year back, this anime is set to air on TV in less than a month, specifically on October 11. “Dragon Ball Daima” promises a fresh journey for Son Goku and his companions, as they find themselves shrunk due to a mischievous wish made on the dragon balls. Based on trailer snippets, fans of Dragon Ball are anticipating that Goku might embark on his own take of “Dante’s Inferno”.

Indeed, you’ve got it correct. Dante and Goku, two characters with virtually no shared traits, are about to experience a shift when “Dragon Ball Daima” is launched. Centuries past, Dante was compelled to journey through the circles of hell in an epic trilogy. Meanwhile, Son Goku is now preparing to delve into a different type of underworld, and we owe it all to the Demon Realm.

The Levels of the Demon Realm

The theory gained traction as the new trailer for “Dragon Ball Daima” reveals some fresh environments. A few specific scenes of Universe 7 caught fans’ attention, leading many to speculate that these supernatural locales possess a foreboding aura. In fact, Dragon Ball enthusiasts are positing that each location could be a distinct circle within the Demon Realm, similar to how Dante’s Inferno has nine layers.

In the upcoming series #DragonBallDaima, you can expect to see three distinct areas, each representing diverse societies and inhabitants within the vast Demon Realm. With its immense size, there’s a wealth of unexplored territory waiting to be discovered.

In this depiction, the initial layer closely resembles what one might envision as a hellish landscape. It’s suffused with deep crimson tones that seem to paint the sky like fire. Mostly barren and desolate, this level could be considered the entrance or first part of the Demon Realm. The second layer boasts a vibrant green color scheme, but it’s the third, as shown in the Dragon Ball Daima trailer, that has fans excited. With its pink-tinted sky, the location seems reminiscent of a place we remember – where our heroes once battled Dabura during the Dragon Ball Z era. Given his known ties to the Demon World, it’s no surprise he was there.

Will Dragon Ball Daima Mimic Real-World Myths?

It’s clear that the upcoming series, “Dragon Ball Daima,” will delve into the Demon Realm, given Goku’s recent transformation seems to be linked to its inhabitants. There are suspicions that the dragon balls have been tainted by the malevolent energy of the underworld, and for eons, this realm has been locked away. If there’s a fissure allowing its residents to flee, then Goku should be able to gain entry as well. Since we’ll likely be exploring the Demon Realm, it’s essential that we have numerous locations to discover within it.

Beyond Dante’s Inferno, there is substantial support for this theory. If we look beyond Dragon Ball, various religions and cultures illustrate hell as having multiple levels. Unlike some faiths that envision hell as a static destination for misguided spirits after death, others, such as Greek mythology, portray the Underworld as divided into four primary realms. One of these realms is the Elysian Fields where the souls of heroes dwell. In ancient times, Dragon Ball’s depiction of heaven bore similarities to the Elysian Fields, which makes it plausible that the Demon Realm may also incorporate additional Greek mythology elements.

Over time, depictions of hell have varied significantly across Buddhism and Catholicism. Given that Dragon Ball’s creator, Akira Toriyama, drew inspiration from real-world sources for the creation of Goku (modeled after the hero from Journey to the West), it is not unreasonable to expect further cultural influences in the Demon Realm. As such, it seems plausible, if not probable, that Son Goku’s interpretation of Dante might reflect these cultural nuances.

What Does Goku Want From the Demon Realm?

It appears that Goku might need to journey through the Demon Realm at some point when the series “Dragon Ball Daima” starts. The key aspect here is understanding how this adventure unfolds for him. Throughout his long career, we’ve witnessed Goku tackle numerous missions and even venture to and return from Hell. The Demon Realm is merely another underworld on his path, but its inhabitants are undoubtedly powerful. This realm was sealed off for a reason in “Dragon Ball” lore, and its revival could lead to chaos. Preventing this impending apocalypse seems to be Goku’s responsibility.

If you’re interested in watching the new series called “Dragon Ball Daima,” it’s scheduled to debut on October 11. As of now, they haven’t announced where it will be available for streaming, but since Funimation has handled it before and subsequently merged with Crunchyroll, there’s a good chance you’ll find it streaming somewhere.
