Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Won’t Have Campaign Early Access

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say, Activision’s decision to scrap early access for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s campaign is a breath of fresh air. The memory of Modern Warfare 3’s disastrous early access, with its Open Combat missions, questionable storyline, and lackluster linear missions, still haunts me.

Instead of the usual practice, Activision has made it clear that the campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not be available early as it has been in previous years. A representative from the company explained to CharlieIntel that the development team is putting all their efforts towards ensuring a successful global launch.

This year, our plan is to provide everyone with simultaneous access to all available modes on the same day. Therefore, we’re returning to a single, grand global release on October 25th, which should come as a relief for those who prefer not to pre-order or avoid spoilers.

In the past, the game “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023)” was the one that provided early access through pre-orders for its campaign. Unfortunately, it faced intense criticism due to issues like its Open Combat missions, unengaging linear missions, weak narrative, and numerous other problems. The fact that it was short in length only added to the dissatisfaction. You can read our review for more details.

According to a wealth of footage from Gamescom, it appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is progressing quite well. This upcoming title will be released next month for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. Notably, it will also debut on Game Pass on its release day. To get a glimpse of some Zombies gameplay, take a look at Liberty Falls, the second round-based map that will be available at launch.
