As a die-hard fan who’s grown up with Naruto by my side, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia as I delve into this piece. The journey of Team 7 has been etched deep within my heart, and seeing their return, even in cosplay form, is like a trip down memory lane.
Fans of anime may currently be immersed in the thrilling narrative of “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex“, yet it’s important to remember that the world of ninjas was initially established over two decades ago through the journey of a young Naruto Uzumaki as he strived for acceptance among his peers. This captivating universe, first unveiled in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 by creator Masashi Kishimoto, has since left an indelible mark on anime culture. As the story progressed, numerous characters evolved, aged, or even perished, but it all began with Team 7. Recently, four talented cosplayers have transported anime enthusiasts back in time, masterfully recreating iconic characters such as Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi.
At the outset of the shonen series, life wasn’t easy for Naruto Uzumaki. Despite eventually rising to become the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, his childhood was marked by isolation and a persistent yearning for acceptance due to carrying the Nine-Tailed Fox, Kurama. Most of Konoha showed little kindness towards the anime protagonist because of this. However, Naruto managed to find companionship in Team 7 and his mentor Kakashi, who helped him achieve his ambitious aspirations.
Naruto & Team 7 Return
Although Team 7 was initially established as a lighthearted unit, they soon encountered formidable challenges from the outset. Before the Chunin Exam pushed Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura into a battlefield where they faced both friends and foes, the trio engaged in their first major fight against Zabuza and Haku, marking the start of their intense journey. When the original Naruto series concluded, so too did Team 7 disband, with Sasuke’s vengeful pursuit of his brother Itachi becoming the dominant force in his life as an Uchiha.

The New Team 7
After Naruto assumed the role of the Seventh Hokage, his allies matured into adults, leading to the formation of a new Team 7. Naruto’s son Boruto, Sarada (the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura), and Mitsuki, the descendant of Orochimaru, teamed up as Konoha’s new primary trio. Unlike their predecessors who were taught by Kakashi, this new generation of ninjas was instructed by Konohamaru, the grandson of the Third Hokage and a longtime companion of Naruto.
Interestingly, Kakashi isn’t as prominently featured in the recent series compared to his past roles. Unlike the masked ninja we used to know, he’s been less involved in combat against the Kara Organization. The storyline focusing on Kakashi primarily revolves around him journeying across the ninja world, aiming to help heal his friend Might Guy. Despite Kakashi not being able to cure Guy’s severe injuries inflicted during the battle with Madara Uchiha, Guy continues to live life vigorously.
Where is Naruto Now?
The situation in the ninja world within Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is extremely grim. The Divine Trees and Kara Organization are causing havoc. Due to a curse cast by the wicked Eida, most people believe Boruto is responsible for his parents’ demise – which, as readers are aware, isn’t true since Naruto and Hinata aren’t deceased but trapped in another dimension. This confinement was orchestrated by Kawaki, who shares a bond with both Boruto and Himawari as their adoptive brother.
In the world of anime, Studio Pierrot had planned to reintroduce the popular Naruto shonen series back on television by remaking the initial season. They intended to produce four new episodes from the original Naruto series, but these have been delayed indefinitely due to production complications related to animation. The episodes were initially scheduled for release last fall, but no new release date has been announced yet.
