Kin season 3 “bidding war” as Emmett J Scanlan confirms negotiations

As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of experience, I have seen many shows rise and fall like the tides. The anticipation for a potential third season of Kin, the Irish crime drama that has captured the hearts of many, is palpable. The recent confirmation from one of its stars, Emmett J Scanlan, that there is indeed interest in reviving this series and the suggestion of a “bidding war” has left fans hopeful.

Supporters of the Irish crime series Kin are optimistic that there will be a third season, despite uncertainty arising from Bron Studios filing for bankruptcy, which cast a shadow over the show’s continuation.

Luckily, it’s been confirmed that one of the leading actors believes there’s still enthusiasm for bringing back the show, hinting at an active “auction” among potential producers.

During an interview on This Morning to publicize the second installment of The Teacher on Channel 5, actor Emmett J Scanlan was queried regarding potential developments for the series Kin.

The person stated: “As of now, it’s uncertain whether we’ll have season 3. It hasn’t been officially approved yet. There might be a situation, though I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to mention this, that could resemble a bidding war.

“There’s certainly a high level of enthusiasm surrounding it. Here’s hoping it returns someday. I can hardly wait to step into Jimmy’s shoes once more.

He added: “I’m not sure who will participate or where it will air, but I’m optimistic. I adore this show and feel honored to have been involved. If by chance we return for season 3 – and I hear the viewership on BBC iPlayer was astronomical – I won’t hesitate to join.

I’ll arrive much sooner than a heartbeat, and I’m confident that everyone else will do the same.

In February, actor Sinan Sicimoğlu of Teller raised questions about the series’ continuation. He stated to the Irish Sun that the cast’s contracts hadn’t been extended yet, and finding all the actors available to work together again on the same set would be difficult.

Yet, an RTÉ representative later clarified: “All parties are engaged in talks regarding another season, but no official announcement has been made yet.
