Elden Ring Update Makes Final Shadow of the Erdtree Boss Easier to Beat

As a seasoned Elden Ring veteran who’s battled my fair share of formidable foes, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief and vindication with this latest update. The much-maligned final boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, Promised Consort Radahn, has finally been given the nerf he so richly deserved!

Players who started the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC at launch and struggled against the final boss will be pleased to know that he has received a balance adjustment in Elden Ring’s latest update, version 1.14. The update patch notes cover various changes such as PvP balancing, bug fixes, and additional improvements, but the main focus is on making the last boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion less challenging. Players who have been using specific builds to exploit the boss should find it even easier now. However, those who aim to fight him with regular in-game tactics may now find it possible to do so more effectively.

In the game “Shadow of the Erdtree“, the final boss, Promised Consort Radahn, wasn’t invincible. I managed to defeat him while reviewing the game before the DLC was released, and many others have also claimed victory over him using unconventional or meta strategies. As is often the case with FromSoftware games, it didn’t take long for experts to conquer him, whether through no-hit runs or other difficult feats. However, a widespread agreement emerged that while it was possible to beat Promised Consort Radahn, the battle itself was quite challenging due to his persistent attack patterns, limited opportunities for counterattacks, and a Phase 2 filled with attacks and effects that made the screen confusing and hard to navigate, making it difficult to understand what was happening.

Since the latest patch for the Elden Ring game was released this morning, we haven’t had a chance yet to fully understand the impact of these adjustments. However, the modifications to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC are detailed below, using information from the complete patch notes available here:

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’s Radahn Nerfs

  • Changed the action pattern when the battle starts.
  • Adjusted some attack moves.
  • Decreased the damage of some attacks.
  • Decreased stamina damage of some attacks.
  • Decreased the attack range of some non-weapon-based attacks.
  • Improved the visibility of some attack effects.

The most recent update for the game “Elden Ring,” titled “Shadow of the Erdtree,” can now be downloaded on PlayStation, Xbox, and personal computer systems.
