AJ Mendez Comments on Involvement in CM Punk's WWE Storyline (Exclusive)

As a longtime fan of WWE and a fervent supporter of AJ Mendez (formerly AJ Lee), I find myself both amused and intrigued by the ongoing feud between her husband, CM Punk, and Drew McIntyre. It’s refreshing to see such passion and intensity in their storyline, even if it does make me a bit anxious when my beloved CM Punk steps into the ring.

Over the past few months, WWE personalities CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been involved in one of the most buzzworthy rivalries in professional wrestling, all triggered by a friendship bracelet given to Punk by a fan. The multi-colored band includes names of Chicago, his wife AJ Mendez (formerly AJ Lee from WWE), and their dog Larry. McIntyre has been relentless in tormenting Punk by stealing the bracelet and even breaking it on a recent episode of WWE Raw. It was announced this week that their feud will culminate within a steel cage at an upcoming Premium Live Event. Lately, there’s been talk about AJ appearing on TV, which has sparked excitement among fans who hope to see her receive long-overdue recognition.

Recently, we had a chat with Mendez about her forthcoming comic collaboration with Aimee Garcia, titled “Day of the Dead Girl.” We were curious to hear her views on the plot.

In a heartfelt manner, I confess my ignorance about [the situation at hand]. [Chuckles] You see, I feel uneasy watching my husband wrestle live due to some peculiar apprehensions. It’s almost as if there’s a strange superstition involved. Yet, it’s somewhat comparable to coming home from work and checking your email – it evokes a similar feeling for those who can relate. So, I mostly stay on the outskirts of these events, but I find myself drawn in primarily for matters concerning women, as that’s what piques my interest.

My husband keeps me updated about the popular woman right now, and I can’t get enough of people’s stories. Bayley and Naomi are the ones I follow closely. That’s what captures my attention. I’m not entirely sure about the current plot developments. However, I do know that our dog has suddenly become famous! He’s got some new merchandise on the way, which I’ve been informed about in advance. It’s exciting to see him thriving and in good health. I’m just happy and proud of his success.

“Day of the Dead Girl” combines horror, the supernatural, and cultural elements, as seen in the upcoming miniseries available October 9th at comic book retailers. The plot revolves around Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, a Mexican tradition. As stated in the synopsis, “Death is merely a chapter’s end; it isn’t the final page.” Coroner Sam Castillo will soon discover this truth when a spectral murderer threatens her hometown at the same time she returns. A woman of science who doubts the supernatural, Sam clashes with her mother Ana, the leader of a witch coven skilled in Brujeria. However, when members of the coven begin to be murdered by an unknown force, Sam and Ana must join forces to identify the killer and prevent their town’s Day of the Dead festival from becoming a gruesome occult scene. Living under the same roof with her mom was already challenging enough for Sam.

Although the series won’t be available until October, you can already pre-order it online or at local comic book stores near you.
