As a seasoned gamer with decades of Pokemon adventures under my belt, let me tell you that this upcoming Research Day event in Pokemon Go is something I’ve been eagerly awaiting! The focus on simian-like Pokemon is right up my alley, and the chance to encounter Shiny Passimian is an added bonus.
For two decades, the Pokemon franchise has introduced numerous creatures resembling apes, gorillas, monkeys, or any relatives within the simian family. In a special event later this month called Research Day, Pokemon Go will honor these simian-like Pokemon. This occasion takes place on Sunday, September 22nd, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., local time. During this period, players can discover Field Research tasks themed around the day at PokeStops and Gyms by spinning Photo Discs. Engaging in these tasks will result in meetings with Oranguru and Passimian. Additionally, the following Pokemon will be spotted in the wild:
- Aipom
- Chimchar
- Grookey
- Mankey
- Slakoth
Beyond Field Research activities, players have the option to secure extra run-ins with Passimian and Oranguru by buying Paid Limited-Time Research. This research is priced at $2.00 and expires at 5 p.m. when the event concludes. The Research Day will mark the in-game introduction of Shiny Passimian for the first time. However, purchasing Paid Limited-Time Research won’t boost your chances of encountering a Shiny Passimian or Shiny Oranguru. Nonetheless, players eager to find a Shiny Passimian might find it advantageous due to the larger number of encounters!
What Does Shiny Passimian Look Like?
In the Shiny form of Passimian, you won’t find a drastic change in colors, but it still stands out uniquely. Instead of some white fur patches, you’ll see gray ones, and some gray areas have been replaced with a deep blue. The green helmet that Passimian usually sports now has an orange hue with a white stripe. Even the ball carried by Passimian has adopted this new color scheme. You can find an image of Shiny Passimian from Pokemon Sword and Shield below.
In the games Pokemon Sun and Moon, Passimian and Oranguru made their debut as version-specific opponents; specifically, Passimian could be discovered in Pokemon Sun, whereas Oranguru was exclusive to Pokemon Moon. To obtain the counterpart not found in your game, trading with another player was necessary. However, players of Pokemon Go are fortunate since they don’t need to deal with such constraints!
