As a seasoned gamer who has seen countless films and lived through the evolution of Hollywood, I must say that the news of Michael B. Jordan doubling down as both director and star for ‘The Thomas Crown Affair‘ remake is nothing short of electrifying!
Michael B. Jordan is set to take on another venture, where he will once more assume both directorial and acting roles. Known for his passion for filmmaking, this isn’t the first time he’s ventured behind the camera; he made his directorial debut with last year’s “Creed III.” His next focus is a remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair” for Amazon MGM Studios, a project where he was initially cast as the leading character.
As per a recent article from Deadline, Jordan is set to direct The Thomas Crown Affair, which marks his return to the director’s chair since Creed III. Similar to Creed III, the movie is intended for a global cinema release. Additionally, Jordan will produce for Outlier Society alongside Elizabeth Raposo.
For a third time, “The Thomas Crown Affair” will grace the silver screen, following its initial release in 1968 with Steve McQueen and a remake in 1999 featuring Pierce Brosnan. The script for this fresh take has been penned by Drew Pearce.
After completing his upcoming project alongside Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther and Creed, Jordan will transition to “The Thomas Crown Affair”. This duo previously collaborated on a high-profile vampire film at Warner Bros. studios.
Michael B. Jordan’s Directorial Career
As the helmer of the Creed series in its third chapter, I found myself brimming with a newfound readiness to tackle bigger challenges. Last year on Good Morning America, I openly expressed my eagerness to direct another film and apply all that I’d recently learned during that experience.
When asked if he plans to direct again,” Jordan admitted, “it’s not a choice for me, but more of a compulsion. The insights I gained from my initial attempt, I yearn to revisit and apply them once more. To put it simply, I enjoy it, I really do.” During the conversation, Jordan also shared his views on the joys and challenges of directing and acting in the same production.
In his own words, he explained that as an actor, you often embody someone else’s vision, striving to give your best performance. However, it’s incredibly rewarding when you have a personal vision in mind and can successfully communicate it to others so they share the same vivid mental image. He further emphasized that the most challenging aspect for him was the preparation, training, and readying himself for each shooting day.
