As a long-time fan of the original Dexter series and someone who has followed Michael C Hall’s career since his Six Feet Under days, I must say I am both excited and intrigued by the upcoming prequel, Dexter: Original Sin. The idea of delving deeper into the backstory of one of television’s most complex characters is a tantalizing prospect, especially with Patrick Gibson stepping into Hall’s shoes as a younger Dexter.
Michael C Hall’s infamous serial killer Dexter is back – but not as we know him.
In a fresh update, the first glimpse and artwork are out for Dexter: Original Sin – a spin-off series predating to 1991 Miami, featuring Patrick Gibson from The Tudors and Shadow and Bone as the young version of Dexter.
On December 13th, the new season of the show premieres on Paramount Plus. In this installment, we’ll witness Dexter’s transformation from a student into an avenger of serial killers. He will also grapple with learning to harness his inner darkness and bloodlust.
Under the tutelage of his father Harry, portrayed in the initial series by James Remar and now brought to life by Christian Slater (from Mr. Robot), he learns a Code that aids him in locating and eliminating individuals who merit removal from society, all while avoiding the attention of law enforcement.

The series will additionally follow Dexter as he embarks on a forensic internship at the Miami Metro Police Department, and it features Patrick Dempsey, Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, and Sarah Michelle Gellar in its cast.
Michael C Hall will also be back, this time voicing the iconic inner monologue in Dexter’s head.
It’s clear that we’ll have another chance to watch Michael C. Hall as Dexter again, following his portrayal of the character in the spin-off series titled “Dexter: New Blood.
Hall is set to reprise his role for Dexter: Revival, where we’ll find Dexter in contemporary times once more.
Hall shared his thoughts on reprising his famous role for both Dexter: Original Sin and Resurrection: “It’s quite overwhelming. I feel like I’m being transported back to my first Comic-Con visit. We were in this hall… it feels like yesterday? It’s astounding to still be here. Living, I mean.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this program. To an extent, I have a feeling for what’s going to happen because I’ve invested so much time in the character. Getting to see those gaps in my imagination filled by this vibrant show is just fantastic.
Mark your calendars! The new series ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ premieres on Paramount Plus on the 13th of December, 2024. Don’t miss out; subscribe to Paramount Plus now!
