Venom: The Last Dance Trailer Reveals First Look at Knull, Creator of the Symbiotes

As a seasoned Marvel gamer with a lifetime of comic book adventures under my belt, I must say that the latest trailer for Venom: The Last Dance has me more than just a little hyped! Ever since the first Venom flick graced our screens, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the appearance of none other than Knull, the King in Black and creator of symbiotes.

Fans of Marvel will catch a glimpse of Knull, the originator of symbiotes, in the latest trailer for Venom: The Last Dance. The concluding installment of Sony Pictures’ Venom trilogy pits Tom Hardy’s Venom and the Lethal Protector against this formidable adversary. In the 2018 film, we witnessed Venom battling with the Life Foundation and its symbiote Riot, and its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, introduced the psychopathic serial killer Cletus Kasady / Carnage. The third Venom movie hints at wrapping up the symbiote storyline in an epic fashion by bringing the King in Black to Earth.

At about 50 seconds into the Venom: The Last Dance preview, we get our initial glimpse of Knull. Eddie Brock queries Venom as to who dispatched one of the symbiotes after them, to which Venom responds, “My maker.” In the scene, a cluster of symbiotes encircle a shrouded figure seated on a throne, hinting at the enigmatic Knull, the King in Black and the creator of the symbiotes. Eddie inquires about his name, but Venom silences him and binds him with a tendril to prevent him from mentioning Knull’s name.

Who is Knull?

Knull, a character introduced by Ryan Stegman and Donny Cates in 2018’s Venom #4, is someone who has been instrumental in the writers’ narrative for the series. A significant part of their run on Venom was dedicated to enriching the Lethal Protector’s backstory and establishing Knull as a major antagonist across multiple storylines. Interestingly, Knull’s history dates back to the early days of the Marvel Universe, and he has previously encountered characters like the Celestials, Silver Surfer, Ego the Living Planet, and even Thor.

As a diehard Marvel fan, I found myself utterly engrossed in one of their epic crossover events – “King in Black.” This storyline witnessed the invasion of Earth by Knull and his symbiotes. The dynamic duo of Eddie Brock and Venom managed to outsmart and ultimately vanquish Knull. Intriguingly, Eddie assumed the role of the King in Black at the culmination of this thrilling saga.

Who is playing Knull in Venom: The Last Dance

Although the actor for Knull hasn’t been officially announced yet, Rhys Ifans, who bears a strong resemblance to our brief glimpse of Knull in the Venom 3 trailer, is on the cast list for Venom: The Last Dance. Rhys Ifans has previous experience with comic book roles, having played Dr. Curt Connors / The Lizard in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man.

In the movie titled “Venom: The Last Dance,” we find actors such as Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham gracing the screen.

What is Venom: The Last Dance about?

In the concluding chapter of the Venom trilogy, titled “Venom: The Last Dance“, we find Tom Hardy reprising his role as the enigmatic Venom, one of Marvel’s most intricate characters. With Venom and Eddie Brock on the run, they are relentlessly pursued by forces from both their realms. As the noose tightens, they are compelled to make a heart-wrenching choice that will mark the end of Venom and Eddie’s last dance together.

Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom: The Last Dance opens in theaters on October 25th.
