What you need to know

  • The Jackbox Naughty Pack is now available on Steam, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Epic Games, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV.
  • The pack contains 3 new games: Fakin’ It All Night Long, Let Me Finish and a ‘dirty’ version of Drawful.
  • It’s $21.69 (nice) but there’s a 10% off promotion running until September 19.

As a seasoned gamer and social gatherings enthusiast with a knack for finding humor even in the most unexpected places, I must say that Jackbox’s latest offering, the Naughty Pack, has piqued my interest. Having attended Gamescom 2024, where I had the unique experience of playing these games amidst strangers, I can attest to their ability to elicit laughter and awkwardness in equal measure.

If you’re not already familiar, Jackbox Party Games are a collection of entertaining multiplayer games suitable for both in-person get-togethers and online streaming events. Your loved ones can participate using various devices, with popular titles like Quiplash, Drawful, and my favorite, Trivia Murder Party, all accessible by creating a playroom.

But weren’t Jackbox games already naughty?

In essence, Jackbox Party Games often lean towards more explicit responses and drawings, though this is optional. The developers have mentioned that players have been requesting adult content for years, which they’ve now incorporated in some of their games. A recent press release about this update was quite amusing:

Fakin’ It All Night Long

Don’t be scared by the title; this game doesn’t ask you to do your best  ‘When Harry Met Sally’ impression, it’s simply a game of lies and poker face. Everyone gets a secret prompt or task sent to their device and is asked to raise their hand, complete an action, or answer a question. One person in the group will not be sent anything, and the task for the group is to find the ‘Faker’ based on everyone’s answers.

Let Me Finish

In simpler terms, “Let Me Finish” poses life’s most intriguing questions, such as “How does an avocado become excited?” or “Which among these items possesses the largest organ comparable to a male’s sexual organ?” It then challenges you to provide your response and explanation to the group.

Dirty Drawful

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to announce that Drawful is back with an edgier twist called ‘Dirty Drawful’. In this intriguing game, you’ll receive a mysterious prompt and your task is to interpret it through a drawing. Afterward, the group will view your creation and attempt to guess the original prompt. The group then votes on their best guesses. You can amass points by tricking the group into thinking your prompt is genuine, but beware, the prompts provided by the game can be downright unbelievable!

Options to tame the game

There is a profanity filter in settings if you’re worried the game may offend your company

Filter US-centric prompts from your game if playing with international friends

If you’re using Jackbox for your gaming experience, whether streaming it or playing it at home with loved ones, and prefer a more family-friendly interaction, there’s an option to filter out inappropriate content. Moreover, I appreciate the new feature that allows users like me (from the UK) to bypass prompts that may not resonate due to their US-centric references to TV or politics.

Not one for introverts

Just as mentioned earlier, I had a go at the game during Gamescom 2024, and let me tell you, Jackbox wasn’t joking about the mature content. It was an absolutely riotous experience playing it with strangers, some moments were so mortifying I wished I could vanish into thin air. But hey, with friends who aren’t shy about taking games like Tee-KO and Quiplash to the depths of inappropriateness, I can’t wait to give this pack a whirl! It’s definitely one for those late nights when the kids are tucked in bed and grandma is enjoying her gin.
