The Thing Becomes Spider-Man and More Marvel Heroes in New Variant Covers

As a seasoned comic book enthusiast with over three decades of reading under my belt, I must say that the current roster of artists bringing The Thing to life is nothing short of extraordinary! From Javier Garron’s Uncanny X-Men #5 to Andrei Bressan’s Daredevil #15, each iteration showcases a unique perspective on this beloved character.

In Marvel Comics, it’s almost time for The Thing to show his strength! This week, Marvel revealed a collection of covers featuring Ben Grimm / The Thing that will be included in their comics coming out in November 2024. These covers are designed to honor The Thing’s popular image within the comic world and generate excitement for Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s portrayal of the character in the upcoming movie, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” which is set for release next summer.

The series featuring different covers for select comic books will commence on November 6th. This opening cover for “Avengers” #20 will be created by Paco Medina, followed by a new cover each week up to the “Fantastic Four” #27 cover by Luciano Vecchio. What Is the New Fantastic Four Movie About?

Details about the storyline of the upcoming Marvel movie titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” remain undisclosed. The film is helmed by Matt Shakman, who previously directed “WandaVision”. The cast includes Moss-Bachrach, Pedro Pascal portraying Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / Human Torch. Additionally, Ralph Ineson will play Galactus, Julia Garner is Shalla-Bal / Silver Surfer, while Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and John Malkovich have roles yet to be specified.

In a 2023 interview, I shared that this project stands out in numerous aspects. Regrettably, I can’t delve into the specifics, but let me tell you, we’re treading uncharted waters from both a narrative and a filmmaking perspective. The way we’re handling it truly resonates with the material, and I can promise you that it’ll be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced, especially compared to other Marvel productions.
