The Grand Tour airs emotional final scene with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May

As a long-time enthusiast of The Grand Tour, I must say that the final episode, “One for the Road,” was a bittersweet farewell to a trio that has entertained us for years. It’s like bidding adieu to an old friend who’s moving away but promising to keep in touch.

It’s time for Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May to bid farewell to The Grand Tour, as they part ways in heartfelt moments.

In the concluding episode titled “One for the Road,” our threesome embark on a journey to Zimbabwe, each driving their long-desired automobiles – a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-liter, and a Triumph Stag. Traveling in these cherished vehicles, they revisit their most beloved destination from two decades of globetrotting adventures.

In the closing moments of our grand journey’s finale, a poignant blend of reminiscences from yesteryears and current scenes were skillfully woven together, offering a heartfelt farewell to those we had traveled with.

“What a way to end The Grand Tour. What a place,” Clarkson says as he drives down a sandy path.

In the closing scenes of “One for the Road,” a poignant watch for viewers who’ve been with the three presenters throughout their journey, they all travel together, side by side, until they arrive at Kubu Island.

At a particularly emotional juncture, scenes from their initial visit to the island are interspersed with the present day, as they reenact past events.

Andy Wilman, the executive producer, mentioned that Kubu Island has been their top favorite location among all the places they’ve visited during the past 18 years while making these specials. Consequently, it was crucial for them to ensure that the final moments of the movie were set in this remarkable place.

As they stood atop one of the boulders on the island, it was a wrap!

“That’s it,” Hammond says before they all shake hands and say goodbye to the production crew.

After leaving Kubu Island, the group continued their journey separately, signaling the conclusion of their epic adventure, The Grand Tour.

Regarding the filming of the finale, Hammond pointed out that it was an emotional experience not only for the main trio, but for everyone involved in the production crew as well.

He commented, “For many years, we’ve been partners and have shared both prosperous and challenging moments.” He continued, “We’ve encountered each other in dense jungles infested with leeches, tired and grouchy inside tents during scorching heat, but also overjoyed amidst the most stunning cities globally.” He concluded, “In essence, we’re an extraordinary yet dysfunctional clan, which means there have been times when tears were shed.

Although Clarkson, Hammond, and May are parting ways from The Grand Tour, it doesn’t mean the end of the brand as a whole.

Just last week, I got some exciting news straight from Hammond himself – our beloved series is continuing! However, there’s a twist: fresh faces will be taking over as presenters going forward.

Hammond explained to Metro.co.uk, ‘We’ll keep going.’ The Grand Tour isn’t ending, just us as hosts. Prime is taking over, so I’m excited to relax in my seat and enjoy watching someone else take the helm. That’s fantastic!
