The 57-year-old took to Instagram to thank fans for their support in the wake of the death of her mother Janelle Ann Kidman.
On September 12th, the Oscar winner expressed gratitude in a post for the overflow of love and compassion their family has experienced this week. Every message received from those who cherished and respected their late mother has been deeply meaningful to them, an emotion they can hardly express adequately. The entire family thanks you for honoring our privacy as we support each other during these trying times.
Nicole posted some old photos of their deceased mom together with her sister, Antonia Kidman, in a shared update.
Initially, the actress who is known for “Big Little Lies” announced that her mother had sadly passed away, following an unexpected departure from the Venice Film Festival in mid-September. At that point, the director of her movie “Babygirl”, Halina Rejn, issued a statement on her behalf to explain the sudden absence.
Today, I’ve stepped foot in Venice, only to learn moments later that my remarkable, valiant mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, has sadly passed away. This news has left me reeling, and now, I must return to the embrace of my loved ones.
The statement continued, “But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me. I’m beyond grateful that I that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken.”
The cause of Janelle’s death has not been made public.
Lately, Janelle has dealt with several health challenges. By 2022, Nicole had come back to her native Australia, as she told NPR then, “Our main reason for being here is to look after my mom and keep her surrounded by her grandkids.
