Tomb Raider Gears Up for Its Netflix Premiere With Special Promo

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but be thrilled about the upcoming Netflix series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Having grown up playing the original games and witnessing Lara’s evolution from a mere video game character to an iconic figure in pop culture, this new animated series promises to delve deeper into her backstory, which is nothing short of intriguing.

This autumn, Netflix will delve into the world of tomb-raiding with “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft”. Set to debut on October 11th, this series offers an exciting new chapter for the video game heroine who’s already made a name for herself. To generate excitement for their next animated video game adaptation, Netflix has unveiled another sneak peek at Lara’s upcoming animated series. With its continued success in adapting video games, Lara Croft finds herself in distinguished company with her forthcoming show on the streaming platform.

If you’re curious about Lara Croft’s upcoming animated series due out next month, it unfolds within the video game universe. After the successful revival trilogy of the Tomb Raider games, which delved into a new narrative for Lara decades after her initial introduction on Sony’s first PlayStation, fans have been eagerly waiting to see where Lara would reappear. We at egmr.ru recently had an exciting conversation with the series’ showrunner, Tasha Huo, and got some insight into this upcoming chapter in Lara Croft’s story.

Tomb Raider’s Timeline

Huo discussed how the series was made and how Netflix coordinated with Tomb Raider owners, Crystal Dynamics, regarding forging this story, “We definitely talked with Crystal Dynamics early on and sort of got the blessing to do the in-between phase of Lara’s life, which is the phase that really fascinated me after playing the Survivor series. It’s such a different Lara than we got in the ’90s and beyond. How? How did she become that character? This question became the big one for me in writing the show. It was me trying to figure out how Lara built the huge network that she ended up having, where she could go to the middle of nowhere and somehow have a connection from some random monk in a monastery. How did she get to know that person? You know, I wanted to know that. How did she become funny? It was so cool to be able to build up the Lara that we all fell in love with to start with.”

In one week, during the GeekedWeek event, you’ll get to see just how much progress Lara Croft has made, as the trailer for TOMB RAIDER: THE LEGEND OF LARA CROFT will be released.

The Future of Tomb Raider

In addition to the anticipated anime series premiering on Netflix, a live-action version produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge for Amazon Video is being developed. The release date of this live-action series hasn’t been announced yet, but it has been confirmed for production by both Amazon and MGM. Regarding video games, an official sequel to the Tomb Raider trilogy has not been disclosed as of now. However, Lara Croft has still found her way into unanticipated areas. Most recently, she appeared in Dead By Daylight as a survivor, evading attacks from characters like Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. Although Dead By Daylight is getting its own live-action horror movie, it’s unlikely we’ll see Lara Croft in that production.

Netflix & Video Games

Beyond producing animated series based on video game lore, this streaming platform allows subscribers to dive into gaming as well. Currently, Netflix provides games such as Grand Theft Auto 3, Death’s Door, Hades, Sonic Mania, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and the Lara Croft-centric title, Tomb Raider Reloaded.
