Outnumbered kids reveal hopes for their characters ahead of Christmas special

As a fan who grew up watching Outnumbered, I must say it feels like coming home again to see the Brockman children all grown up. I remember them as if they were my own siblings, causing chaos and bringing laughter into our living rooms every week.

The original child actors from “Outnumbered” have expressed their ideas about what they believe the Brockman family might be doing in the forthcoming holiday special, which signifies the show’s comeback after a hiatus of eight years.

The characters Jake, Ben, and Karen, portrayed by Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche, and Ramona Marquez respectively, were brought up on screen, often causing frustration for their persistent parents Sue (played by Claire Skinner) and Pete (Hugh Dennis).

The series traced their lives from childhood up until adolescence, and the upcoming holiday special promises a reunion of the characters as fully grown individuals – including Marquez, the actor portraying the youngest Brockman sibling, who happens to be 23 now.

Marquez believes that Karen will remain authentic, being both vocal and insightful. I’m certain she’ll do something daring, and she’ll continue to spin her intricate webs. In essence, she’ll just be the same vibrant Karen.

In addition, Roche expressed his expectations for Ben, who initially came across as a lively lad in the initial series, later transforming into a teenager lacking direction. This transformation leaves significant choices for him to consider about his future.

The actor described it this way: “When we last encountered Ben, he seemed to be standing at a significant juncture in his life. Although not as dire as when he was younger, there was definitely an oddness about him.

I’m really hoping that he manages to thrive or, at the very least, incorporates his unique traits into his work effectively. Ideally, I don’t want him to come across as an oddball as an adult.

Drew-Honey, portraying Jake, the eldest Brockman child, expressed a desire for some genuinely amusing dialogue and plenty of opportunities for spontaneous acting, similar to the elements that endeared the sitcom to audiences when it debuted.

One option for paraphrasing in natural and easy to read language: Outnumbered is among a nostalgic collection of holiday programs on BBC, featuring the last Gavin & Stacey special, which will finally clarify the suspenseful cliffhanger from 2019’s reunion.
