Harley Quinn EPs Tease Big Changes in Season 5

As a seasoned gamer and a die-hard fan of animated DC series, I can’t help but express my unbridled enthusiasm for the upcoming Season 5 of Harley Quinn. Having binged through the first four seasons multiple times, I’ve grown quite attached to our favorite anti-heroine and her exploits.

In the upcoming season 5 of Harley Quinn, which is set to premiere on Max this autumn, while the specific release date remains undisclosed, there’s one certainty for fans of the animated DC series: significant alterations are in store. In a conversation with ComicBook, series executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker hinted at a shift in location for the beloved duo Harley and Ivy. This season, the pair will be jetting off to Metropolis, aiming to inject some excitement into their relationship by stirring things up.

Harley Season 5 may arrive soon, but we haven’t got the specific release date yet, so there’s an exciting mystery to anticipate as it continues the narrative of Harley and Ivy’s romantic journey. As producer Schumacker hinted, expect a significant location change – perhaps even a relocation to Metropolis! This season, Harley and Ivy seek to invigorate their relationship by exploring new surroundings.

Halpern outlined that the relocation will involve examining the contrast between how Metropolis and Gotham are viewed; essentially, it seems that one city supports the other’s prosperity.

As an ardent admirer, I must admit that the notion which piqued our curiosity was the contrast between Metropolis, this radiant city on a hill, and Gotham, seemingly more of a troubled city. It almost seems as if Gotham serves as a sort of backdrop to Metropolis’s prosperity. This intriguing concept certainly caught our attention.

Back in November, it was announced that Harley Quinn would return for Season 5, and if it indeed airs on Max this fall, it will mark the second DC animated series on Max in 2021. Earlier in July, the spinoff series Kite Man: Hell Yeah made its debut on the platform.

Last year, Suzanna Makkos, executive vice president of original comedy and adult animation at Max and Adult Swim, expressed that the skilled Harley Quinn team has once again managed to create a season which not only expands upon previous installments but also remains innovative and unique. She went on to say that they consistently offer amusing, heartfelt, and off-kilter tales featuring our beloved band of DC outcasts, and she’s thrilled for the fans to witness the fantastic work they’ve done in Season 5.

The first four seasons of Harley Quinn are now streaming on Max.
