As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for indie RPGs and a deep appreciation for Toby Fox’s work, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation, patience, and a tinge of humor when it comes to Deltarune. I’ve been following the development of this game since its inception, and while I’m aware that good things come to those who wait, three years is pushing the boundaries of my gaming-induced patience!
Enthusiasts of the game Deltarune have been eagerly anticipating the next installments in its storyline for quite some time now. It’s been three years since Chapter 2 was released, but recent developments suggest that there has been substantial progress made. The creator, Toby Fox, has given an update on the project’s progress, and it appears that the ball is now out of his court. Inside the team, they aimed to complete the main content for Chapters 3 and 4 by September 1st, a goal which has been achieved. Now all that remains are fixing bugs, translating the game into other languages, and adapting it for console platforms. With these tasks out of the way, the primary focus for those not involved in these areas is now Chapter 5, which will be the team’s main priority moving forward.
In the development of Chapters 3 & 4, I have personally carried out all the active tasks I could. At this point, all that’s left for me to do is wait for the localization process and testing. This is what Fox stated in their blog post.
Fox went on to say that the waiting process now “feels like I’m strapped to a chair with delicious food just out of my reach.” That’s probably the same way that his fans feel, but at least it seems like things are progressing nicely! Deltarune Chapter 2 was released all the way back in 2021. At this time, there is no announced release window for Chapters 3 and 4, but the current plan is for them to be released simultaneously. It’s possible that could change at some point; Fox initially planned to release Chapters 3, 4, and 5 together as a paid package. Fox later decided that just Chapters 3 and 4 would get a simultaneous release, so it’s possible things could change again. However, that’s entirely speculation, and nothing has been stated in that regard.
Deltarune, crafted by Toby Fox, serves as his sequel to the widely acclaimed game Undertale. The opening acts of Deltarune have garnered rave reviews from both gamers and critics alike, with a total of seven chapters expected. Given the current pace, it seems that we’re in for a lengthy journey before we can fully experience Deltarune. However, as patience is a virtue among fans, they eagerly anticipate the wait, even though it may sometimes feel excruciating! Toby Fox has cultivated an ardent fanbase over time, and many are prepared to endure, knowing that the reward will be worth the wait.
